    Caring, clean, homey memory care

I placed my mom at Limestone Lodge and I'm very pleased - the staff are genuinely caring and attentive, the buildings are clean and well-kept, meals are homemade and customizable, and there are lots of activities that keep residents engaged. It's a small, family-like memory care community where residents feel safe, welcomed, and personally looked after; administration is responsive. The property is older and rooms are a bit small, but overall I highly recommend the Lodge.

    About Limestone Lodge

Limestone Lodge sits on several acres of green grass with tall, shady trees over in Athens, AL, and when you look around, you'll see folks living in cozy apartments and enjoying wide, open spaces, and it's the kind of place where people come for assisted living and memory care, but the staff offers other support, too, like independent living, nursing home services, long-term care, home health care (Medicare-certified), adult day services, and non-medical home care. Residents get their care from a team led by Administrator Stephanie Brodka, LPN, ALA, and there's always 24-hour staff around, so someone's there to help with personal hygiene, dressing, medication, or health checks, plus there's daily housekeeping, laundry, linen service, and apartment maintenance to keep things running smooth. People eat three home-cooked meals a day, and snacks are always handy, with restaurant-style dining where the staff can offer special diets like low or no sugar and low or no sodium, and you won't pay extra for cable TV, satellite TV, free WiFi, or most utilities, though you'd pay for a phone line if you wanted one.

The Lodge puts a lot into making life better and more active, so everyone gets a chance to join in daily social activities, both onsite with things like games, exercise, crafts, and television in the activity room, or offsite outings since they've got transportation by bus or car, sometimes included and sometimes at a cost, but the whole point is to keep folks connected and engaged, so there's always something to do. Residents live in apartments that are set up for comfort and convenience, with the choice between private units or double occupancy, and common spaces like a community parlor, a dining room, a TV lounge, and an enclosed courtyard or large outdoor areas for those who like a bit of fresh air. Pets are welcome, too, making it feel a little more like home, but smoking's not allowed anywhere inside, private or public, giving it a cleaner, healthier feel. The facility's set up with sprinklers and smoke detectors for safety, and medical staff and caregivers are always close by in case anyone needs extra help.

Limestone Lodge is known for its specialized memory care services, including the "Embracing the Journey" program and personalized care for people living with dementia or mild to moderate memory loss, so memory care residents get secure living spaces, double apartments if needed, and customized plans to keep them involved at their own pace, both physically and mentally, with support on routines, medication, and social connections. The Lodge provides hospice and home health care when needed, and the staff can work with outside providers, so families know their loved ones are cared for, no matter what comes up. Life enrichment programs run every day and include everything from exercise classes to spiritual devotions to special entertainment, and the community wants every resident to find purpose and independence while still feeling safe in a supportive, friendly environment. The grounds look welcoming, the caregivers focus on dignity and respect, there's even an in-house beauty salon and barbershop, and the Lodge shares updates and photos on its Facebook and limestonelodgeal.com pages, so families can keep up with daily life without always needing to visit in person.
