    Excellent rehab; avoid for dementia

I placed my mom here for short-term rehab and was impressed: spotless, well-maintained, beautiful facility with homey food, outstanding, loving and professional caregivers who delivered strong medical attention and effective therapy - she recovered quickly. Staff were friendly, respectful, and clearly invested in residents' best interests, and the facility excels at skilled and long-term care. My one caution: I would not recommend it for advanced dementia - I observed poor dementia-specific care and signs of sedation/chemical restraint that contributed to decline. Overall, I strongly recommend this place for rehab and non-dementia long-term care.

    About Hillcrest Home

Hillcrest Home began in 1953 and has grown over time to offer a range of services for seniors, so folks can find independent living, assisted living, and retirement communities as well as care homes and memory care for people with Alzheimer's. The community also has nursing homes and offers continuing care options, including skilled nursing, long-term care, therapy, and home care services, which means folks with different needs can find what helps them most, whether for a short stay, a few months, or for new homes. Hillcrest Home's staff, many of whom are volunteers, and residents often build strong friendships, and the home puts focus on creating trust, warmth, and a sense of comfort, aiming to make things feel more like real life and less like an institution. The care they give is tailored to each person, and their nursing department takes care of people needing stroke recovery, cardiac rehab, wound care, help with breathing problems, or recovery from surgeries, so folks can get help and stay as independent as possible.

There's a clinic and different floor plans are available on request, though not every service or amenity gets listed out. People can take tours of the facility and meet staff and residents, which gives a feel for what life there's really like, whether for care or to see all the activity options like canoeing, hiking, boating, and camping. Hillcrest Home runs a Volunteer Service Program which helps with leadership and skills, a Christian Growth Program offering Bible studies, and there are training programs for nursing, janitorial, laundry, and maintenance, including a subsidized nurse's training through North Arkansas College. Counseling is available one-on-one, and the place gives employment chances to those looking to work or volunteer. Payment options can be asked about. Hillcrest Home operates under the Mission Interest Committee, which does mission work in other places like Canada, Belgium, and Ireland, and uses money earned at Hillcrest to support Christian work worldwide. Both the care and lifestyle put emphasis on meeting a person's physical, spiritual, and emotional needs, and the use of original photography on their website gives a genuine look at daily life.
