    Mother enjoys active friendly community

I'm very pleased - my mother enjoys life there, has made friends, and stays busy with cards, bingo, arts, exercise classes and frequent outings (shuttle to Walmart/pharmacy included). Staff and leadership are attentive, friendly and responsive; rooms are large, clean, accessible and the grounds are beautiful, secure and well maintained. Dining is mostly good - hot, fresh and supervised by a dietician - but vegetables and some meals can be greasy, overly salty/fatty with too much red meat. Overall it's a lovely, well-run place I'd recommend.

    About St. Bernards Village

St. Bernards Village has a variety of care options for seniors, including assisted living, independent living, memory care, and respite care, all under the same roof, which means if someone needs more support later, they don't have to leave their community. Staff are available around the clock, ready to help with emergencies, moving from beds to wheelchairs, medication reminders, or just answering the call system in each room, which gives peace of mind to both residents and their families, and a nurse is on staff part-time to help with more advanced care like wound care, finger sticks, and insulin monitoring for diabetes. There are 65 licensed beds, with 58 for residents, and apartments come in studio, two-bedroom, and even three-bedroom options, plus some cottage-style condos for independent folks age 55 and over, and most rooms have things like full kitchens or kitchenettes, cable or satellite TV, and emergency call systems to make day-to-day life more comfortable.

The community provides daily meals and takes care of housekeeping, laundry, and linen services, which takes a load off those who find chores a little harder these days, and there's even in-house dry cleaning if needed, plus apartment maintenance is included, so things are fixed when troubles pop up. There are plenty of things to do, with activities like bingo, card games, exercise classes, and movie nights, and the library, coffee shop, chapel, ice cream parlor, and country store make sure folks have places to gather or just enjoy quiet time alone. The outside space is welcoming too, with gardens and outdoor patios that give residents and their guests room to sit and enjoy fresh air, and the grounds are kept up nicely with security guards watching the front gate and the facility itself has gated entry as well as a storm-rated safe room for protection. Safety is a big part of the environment here, with emergency call systems in every unit and staff trained for emergencies at any time, day or night.

For health and personal care, St. Bernards Village provides help with bathing, dressing, mobility, and more, and there's medication administration, wound care, hospice care, supportive and palliative care, and even skilled nursing available on-site, so people don't have to go far for the care they need. They also offer transportation for things like shopping, appointments, and going out in the community, plus there's parking for both guests and residents. The facility is pet-friendly with some restrictions, so seniors can still keep a companion animal if they want. Wellness gets a lot of attention too, with fitness programs, salon and barber services, and social and spiritual support through activities and religious services. Family communication is part of the support, making sure loved ones stay in the loop.

Altogether, life at St. Bernards Village is set up to handle advanced needs with Level 2 Assisted Living licensing, but it's also designed to keep things as independent, supportive, and comfortable as possible for each person, with care plans made for individual needs and a calm environment where folks can enjoy steady routines, time with others, and their own private space.
