    Clean, caring staff with issues

I moved in recently and overall I'm pleased: the facility is very clean, homey and well-maintained with cheerful public areas, a refreshing entrance, nicely sized bedrooms/studios, good closet space and full-size fridges. Staff are outstanding - compassionate, friendly nurse aides, a conscientious director of nursing and an RN who did a thorough care interview - and they respond quickly to needs. Meals have improved dramatically under a new chef, the dining room is being redecorated, and transportation to doctor appointments is reliable. COVID protocols are strict (Plexiglas visitation, restricted activities), there's no dedicated outdoor area, activities are limited by the pandemic, and internet is outdated; showers could be bigger. It's reasonably priced with rate reductions and lower-cost options, conveniently located for Maumelle but less so for west Little Rock; my main complaint was poor move-in orientation and some initial communication hiccups between aides and management.

    About Chapters Living of Maumelle

Chapters Living of Maumelle sits quietly in a wooded part of Maumelle, Arkansas, in a single-story red-brick building that feels much like a real home, with cozy lounges, big bathrooms where you can take a safe shower, rooms you can decorate any way you like, and apartments with plenty of space. Folks there can pick between assisted living, memory care, or respite care for a short stay, and Merle at Maumelle is part of the community too, offering a mix of independent, assisted, and memory care options, with staff who treat folks kindly and who've won an award for being friendly and helpful, plus another award for their well-liked dining. This place believes every resident should keep their dignity and independence, so they write up care plans that match each person's own health needs and interests, whether someone needs daily reminders about medicine, some help getting dressed, or a different kind of help as their needs change.

Chapters Living has nurses available at all times, a doctor and podiatrist on call, and therapists who help with speech, movement, and daily routines. Walkers and wheelchairs can get in easily, and the place stays clean and fresh, with safety measures and 24-hour support for both planned and surprise needs. The memory care side has its own full-time activities director, and the staff help residents who live with dementia or other memory issues to join trips, outings, and group activities. People can spend time in landscaped outdoor spaces, do arts and crafts, join fitness classes, or sit for a haircut at the beauty salon, all while being able to bring their pets if they wish.

Meals are made by a chef and served in bright, elegant dining rooms with several choices on the menu, focusing on nutrition and taste-this is something residents and their families really notice and appreciate. The building includes common areas where people can gather, play games, or attend devotional services, and high-speed Wi-Fi means everyone can stay connected. Folks can also join in group outings, field trips, or just relax in their own apartment. If anybody needs a ride somewhere, transportation's available along with resident parking. The intent is to make sure each resident feels empowered, cared for, and able to do as much for themselves as possible, but get the help they need-for however long they need it-in a space that's peaceful, welcoming, and well-supported by a team who understand the unique needs of each person and work closely with the residents, their doctors, and their families.

Chapters Living of Maumelle has a listing on the Better Business Bureau, but it isn't accredited by them at this time. The main focus stays on comfort, safety, respect, and simple moments of connection, whether a resident is there for daily care or just stopping in for a while.
