    Great care staff, leadership concerns

I moved my parent here and overall I'm impressed - the place is very clean, beautiful and relatively new with spacious, private one-bedroom apartments or kitchenettes, wide halls, balcony/patio access, lots of activities (movie/game rooms, music, outings) and nice common areas like a cafe, fireplace and lobby. Dining is solid with three meals (buffet plus room delivery option), on-site nurse/pill dispensary, transportation and laundry - CNAs and most RNs are friendly, caring and often go above and beyond. My biggest concerns are leadership and safety: senior management is hard to deal with, the head nurse can seem indifferent, there have been reported staff misconduct/POA manipulation issues that management allegedly defended, and smoking allowed in parts of the campus can let odors drift. It's pricey but many aspects are excellent; I'd recommend visiting and weighing the strong caregiving staff against the leadership and safety concerns.

    About RiverLodge Assisted Living

RiverLodge Assisted Living sits over on RiverLodge Drive in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and it offers a range of living options for older adults, including assisted living, memory care, nursing care, independent living, and continuing care, so there's quite a few choices depending on what a person needs at different stages of life, and the place has about 75 beds, so it's not too small or too big, just about the right size for folks who like a little community but don't want to get lost in a crowd. The community uses a relationship-based care approach, paying attention to each resident's needs with personal care plans, medication help, and regular checks, and there's always someone around 24 hours a day in case of emergency because they have trained staff for supervision and drills since safety's a big deal and they have an emergency response system in place that works round the clock to give peace of mind. Residents can pick from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, each with private bathrooms, little kitchenettes, air conditioning, phone lines, and cable TV, and folks can use Wi-Fi in their rooms to keep connected, which is pretty handy these days, and all the rooms come already furnished but people can bring some of their own things if they want.

Food's taken care of with meal preparation and service, and the kitchen team tries to accommodate folks with special diets, plus there are options for communal dining, room service when someone doesn't feel like getting dressed up, and even guest meals if you have someone visiting, and they try to mix it up with things like movie nights and group activities, so there's always something happening like fitness programs, outdoor walks, a movie theater, library, chapel, and a garden, and if a person likes games, music, or art, there are rooms set aside for those, too. The Motive8™ program gives people ways to focus on personal growth, staying connected, learning something new, helping others, and just being creative, while the "Live Well" and "Be Well" programs try to cover health and wellness, and that kind of thing helps folks stay active and feel that sense of belonging and purpose. When it comes to care, the staff help with medication, bathing, dressing, daily needs, moving around, and they don't leave out those who need non-ambulatory care either, and there's a part-time nurse who checks in, with healthcare coordination, reminders, and even help getting access to home health services when needed.

Amenities like weekly housekeeping, laundry, linen services, move-in coordination, transportation to appointments and shopping, and concierge services make things easier, and when it comes to outside space, people enjoy walking paths and gardens which are a nice way to get fresh air, while the inside has places like the library, formal dining room, game room, laundry mat, and chapel. Residents can also use on-site salon services for hair and grooming, and they let people bring some pets, though no birds, cats, or small dogs, and there's a parking lot for those who still drive. The community's focused on comfort, sincere care, and respect while encouraging independence as much as possible, using programs and services that give residents choices about how they want to live-like the "Riverlodge Lifestyle"-and they work to exceed expectations though nobody can promise perfection.

Graded by its residents and families, RiverLodge gets an average rating, about 3.4 out of 5 stars from 14 online reviews, and on one system, it earned a 7.7 out of 10, which puts it at number 5 out of 6 in Mountain Home, so it's not at the very top but it's steady, and people looking for a place get tours, video viewing, and help from staff to see if it's the right fit, plus it accepts several payment options such as private pay, VA Aid & Attendance, Medicaid Waiver, checks, and cashiers checks. Along with expert resources for long-term care and family support, RiverLodge Assisted Living sits in a neighborhood with various health facilities, parks, and services nearby, making it a practical choice for people who want comfort, convenience, and as much independence as possible as they get older.
