    Warm loving home excellent care

I chose this place for my mom after visiting more than a dozen homes and was impressed on both visits. The sweet married owners (an RN on site) run a warm, home-like facility with 24/7 loving, well-trained staff, staff on call, and a backup generator. Private rooms with private baths and deck patios, amazing meals, spotless fresh-smelling common areas, and cheerful, well-fed residents made the transition smooth - my mom feels respected, loved, and very well cared for. Highly recommend.

    About Carmel Villa

Carmel Villa sits in a quiet neighborhood in Carmel Valley, California, not far from Quail Lodge Golf Course, and has room for up to 6 residents in a home-like setting, which feels pretty personal and friendly because it's not a big or crowded place, and folks here get their own private or furnished rooms that sometimes have wheelchair accessible showers and private baths, plus the rooms come with telephones and photos of what to expect. The staff, led by administrator Dina Wissinger and licensee Kathleen Voris, stay around 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and keep an eye out for everyone, helping with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and getting around, plus they handle medication management and watch out for folks who need help with things like incontinence care, diabetes care, or high acuity needs. There are caregivers to help with chores, personal care, and cooking, so residents always get home-cooked meals tailored to special diets, whether for allergies or diabetes, and there are vegetarian options, which all get served in the community dining room or through all-day dining as needed, and if anyone wants, they can celebrate birthdays or holidays with their family, friends, pets, and the other residents because pets are allowed, as long as they meet the weight limits.

The facility has indoor and outdoor common areas, including a living room where people gather for movie nights, a community room, walking paths, and gardens, so there are plenty of places to socialize or just enjoy some fresh air, and there's always a daily calendar of activities, both on the property and out in the town, to keep everyone engaged with social, educational, or fun programs. Carmel Villa specializes in memory care for those living with Alzheimer's or other kinds of dementia, and they're fully licensed by California (License #270708207) to do so, plus they offer end-of-life hospice care and respite care for short stays, helping families who need some extra assistance when they're away or need a break. There's medical support in-house, and sometimes a physician will make house calls, but residents can also keep seeing their own doctor if they'd prefer, and staff will help get everyone to appointments, using the facility van or through resident parking, and sometimes transportation is complimentary while other times there's a fee. Safety features include an emergency alert system throughout the house, and all these services and supports fall under the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) regulations, so you can tell they've got experience with both short-term and long-term needs, including non-ambulatory care, help with transfers, and close coordination with healthcare providers. The home also takes care of laundry, housekeeping, and even dry cleaning, and there's always someone awake and alert, not just asleep overnight, which helps everyone feel secure, so Carmel Villa aims to provide a nurturing, supportive place for seniors to live as independently as possible but with help always close by.
