    Excellent rehab but safety concerns

I placed my mom here and overall had a very positive experience: the staff are compassionate, well-educated and cohesive - Administrator Marissa Pickins, PT Jenny, Lorna, Sol and Kelly were especially outstanding - extraordinary therapy helped my mom regain independence and feel hopeful. The building is spotless with beautiful grounds and a friendly community (semi-private rooms, no in-room baths, hillside with limited outdoor area). Communication and day-to-day care were exemplary and I'd readily return for that reason. That said, there were serious lapses: a rude/evasive social services director, troubling medication choices (Norco + Xanax), and a negligent diabetic episode (only banana/juice given, no retest, delayed transfer) plus a misreported injury, noisy nights and uneven meals. In short: excellent, caring staff and great rehab, but some safety/administrative issues need urgent attention.

    About Bayside Care Center

Bayside Care Center sits in Morro Bay, California, at 1405 Teresa Rd, and people know the place for its friendly, helpful staff and a home-like setting, so when you walk through, you'll see updated dining rooms and common spaces where folks can visit or read, and outside, there are scenic courtyards and patios with flowering plants and birds singing, and some like to spend their mornings there with friends or family. The community provides a lot of different living choices, like Studio and Large Studio apartments, as well as One Bedroom and Two Bedroom styles, so some people come in for independent living at Casa de Flores, while others need assisted living or even memory care, and for these cases, there are skilled aides and licensed nurses on hand who help with bathing, dressing, and medications, or just offering companionship throughout the day.

You'll find respite care, nursing home services, and even skilled nursing and rehabilitation right on the grounds, which means those needing short- or long-term help can stay without moving, and they also have a Physical Therapy Room where people work on getting back their strength after an illness or surgery, so it's kind of a one-stop spot for varying needs, including dementia or more active seniors. Chef-prepared meals are served in a group dining room, where the kitchen staff works with meal planners to make sure food is both tasty and good for you, and most days bring social, physical, mental, and emotional activities that help keep everyone engaged, which seems to be something people look forward to.

Staff at Bayside Care Center have gained recognition for being joyful and kind, and awards like Best of Senior Living and All-Star nods for quality and resident satisfaction back up this reputation, with the community also receiving national mentions for activities, friendliness, and overall care, so there's a sense that people there take pride in what they do. Bayside Care Center offers independent and assisted living, with assisted living and independent living options clearly marked as Casa de Flores, so residents find something that works for their lifestyle, whether they're looking for occasional help or need around-the-clock nursing care, and because Compass Health, Inc. runs the center, there's an organization with a solid background in skilled nursing and care for seniors.

Home care's available for those who want to stay living at home but need non-medical help or just someone around each day, and the workplace is tobacco-free, which is worth noting for families and residents alike, so you're not likely to run into many issues with that. While there's no detailed list of amenities or care types right now due to a server error, what stands out most are the variety of living arrangements, the balance between independence and needed help, and the welcoming, active environment that aims to support seniors through all walks of aging.
