    Compassionate small facility with engagement

I toured several places and chose this small, 15-bed, secured converted home because the staff truly treat residents like family - compassionate, experienced in Alzheimer's/dementia with in-house hospice care. Volunteers and Cal Poly students keep people engaged; it's clean with open visitation, though bathrooms are limited. I highly recommend visiting and volunteering.

    About Garden House, Morro Bay

Garden House in Morro Bay has served local seniors since 2000 in a home-like setting that feels personal and comfortable, and this small, boutique care home sits with room for up to 15 residents, featuring 13 private bedrooms and one shared room, with most residents in their 80s and 90s and sometimes even older, including many who are veterans or family of veterans, and you'll see staff trained to help with Alzheimer's, dementia, memory care, and hospice needs. The facility offers 24/7 care with staff providing help for bathing, dressing, eating, and medication management, and there's always someone on site to manage emergencies and coordinate with doctors or dieticians when needed, which is nice for those needing more than a little help but who want to keep as much independence as possible for as long as they can. The place has both ambulatory and non-ambulatory care, meaning it's ready to help people with mobility challenges, plus safety is a big focus with emergency alert systems, secured doors, a locked perimeter, delayed egress, and regular supervision day and night to keep everyone safe. Living spaces are either furnished or ready for personal items, creating a familiar feel, and the whole building is wheelchair accessible, with outdoor patios, walking paths, reading rooms, and social areas, so people have places to gather or get quiet time. Residents get homemade meals three times a day and staff can meet special dietary needs like diabetes or allergies, even handling insulin and other medical plans in coordination with healthcare providers, and you'll find a mobile hairdresser, laundry, and housekeeping provided as part of daily life. There's a steady routine of activities like movie nights, music and art therapy, pet visits, workout sessions, social nights, and health programs, and for those who enjoy the outdoors there are garden spaces and patio areas, with even transportation arranged for doctor's visits, errands, or religious outings. They welcome both temporary and long-term stays, offering respite care for families who need a break, and the whole setup is under California state license #405850174, with policies and care plans tailored for each resident, coordinated directly with doctors and family. The staff tries to keep life as rewarding as possible, encouraging friendships and daily engagement, aiming to help people enjoy themselves, find comfort, and stay safe whether they need help most of the day or can move around without much assistance, and pets are allowed, so long as they meet the requirements. The place focuses on respecting each person's needs and dignity, especially at the end of life, with care that feels personal and steady, making Garden House a real choice for seniors needing a friendly, secure environment with specialized memory care if it's needed.
