    Poor management unsafe minimal amenities

I moved in for the affordable pricing, low HOA and wheelchair accessibility, but I'm disappointed. The office is routinely unresponsive (answering service, staff ignore calls), management is intrusive and rules-heavy (permission required for changes, strict enforcement), and they seem to care only about violations. There are almost no amenities (no clubhouse/pool/tennis), units need paint and have weeds, the road through the community is noisy, and neighbor interaction is minimal. Worst of all I had a dangerous fall and received no assistance-between safety concerns and unfriendly staff/HOA, I'm planning to leave.

About Peacock Hills Senior Community Association (Contact Phone is for messages only)

Peacock Hills Senior Community Association sits on Peacock Blvd in Oceanside, California, and you'll find it's a neighborhood mainly for people 55 and older who want a peaceful place to live. The community has duplex homes, most with two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms, plus a one-car garage for each. The streets have sidewalks for easy walking, and you'll see shared driveways, gardens here and there, and outdoor walking paths that encourage residents to stay active. Folks rent rooms in these cozy villas, and the place is known for being more affordable, with minimal HOA fees compared to other retirement communities. Some say it's a quieter area due to its distance from the coast, so you might not get those cool beach breezes.

The Association runs things with a focus on senior well-being and independence, and you'll notice the amenities try to make life as comfortable as possible, with community rooms for activities like games, music, movies, and fitness classes-though a few people think these are sometimes limited or could be better. There's a dining room where residents can get restaurant-style meals at any time of day, and special diet needs or allergies get attention from a professional chef. The grounds have nice outdoor features, including walking and hiking paths, outdoor gathering spaces, and a few quiet corners for sitting outside.

For help with daily life, there's staff who offer support like bathing, dressing, medication management, and non-ambulatory care. Healthcare services include a 24-hour call system, supervision, skilled nursing, memory care for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, and respite care if a primary caregiver needs a break. Housekeeping, laundry, move-in help, and a concierge are provided to make things easier, and you'll also find a game room, library, arts space, spa/wellness room, and an onsite movie theater. The activity calendar includes fitness groups, music nights, outdoor events, and art sessions, but a few residents feel the activities could be more engaging.

Peacock Hills focuses on independent living but supports assisted living needs and offers memory care, so it's more than just a place to rent a room-it aims to give residents enough privacy and comfort, along with chances to meet neighbors and join events. The community keeps hours on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the phone number listed for the facility is only for leaving messages, not direct calling. The area usually feels quiet, and a few reviews mention that the atmosphere can seem unfriendly at times. The neighborhood gets an average rating of around 3.9 to 4 stars, and photos online show clean facilities and common areas. You'll find more information on their website or social media if you want to look before visiting, and the map location makes it easy to find Peacock Hills in Oceanside.
