    About Primrose

Primrose is a thoughtfully designed care home located in the serene setting of Old Town Orcutt in Northern Santa Barbara County. Surrounded by a private lane and spacious grounds, Primrose offers a unique approach to elder care, embracing a fresh ideology that seeks to reinterpret living environments for seniors. Moving away from traditional institutional models, Primrose creates a community where relationships are prioritized, spontaneity and growth are encouraged, and all residents are honored and cherished. The philosophy at Primrose is rooted in the belief that human beings thrive best in radically-relational environments that foster a sense of belonging and purpose.

The residence itself features charming, turn-of-the-century farmhouse styling across its sprawling 5,700 square feet. Primrose accommodates up to 14 residents in both private and semi-private suites, with 10 private suites and 4 semi-private suites available. Each suite is spacious, comfortable, and filled with natural light, designed to feel just like home and to accommodate personal furniture and treasured memorabilia. Every aspect of the environment, from the open and inviting common areas to the beautiful outdoor walking paths, tranquil patios, and raised garden beds, is tailored to promote comfort, independence, and well-being.

Primrose is dedicated to providing uncompromising, high-quality care, supported by personalized care plans and an industry-leading staffing ratio. The team of experienced, well-trained caregivers is available 24 hours a day to deliver support, companionship, and assistance tailored to each resident’s needs. Staff members embrace the Best Friends Approach to dementia care, nurturing deep relationships with residents to provide not only care but meaningful companionship and understanding. The home also features a Freedom Bath with air spa for relaxation therapy, further contributing to the holistic well-being of those who live there.

Meals at Primrose are nutritious and chef-prepared, served alongside daily snacks within the communal atmosphere of the home. The environment is lively and engaging, with a diverse range of activities and outings that change monthly to stimulate personal growth and spark joy. Housekeeping and linen service are provided daily, ensuring a clean and comfortable living space at all times.

Primrose is distinguished by its relationship-rich culture, where live-in community pets bring companionship and comfort, and where both staff and visitors are welcomed as part of a broader, intergenerational family. Children of all ages visit and interact regularly with residents, and staff are encouraged to bring their own children to work, further fostering a warm, family-friendly community.

At the heart of Primrose’s caring community is a team that prioritizes dignity, individuality, and relationship. The home’s leadership and staff are dedicated to changing the culture of elder care by nurturing an environment where all life is valued and every resident is given opportunities to develop new relationships, engage in meaningful activities, and experience a profound sense of belonging.
