    Compassionate holistic care and meals

I placed my mom at Marama and have been thrilled - Chef Gil's three organic, restaurant-quality, brain-and-body-optimized meals and snacks are amazing, the staff are unbelievably kind, loving, and communicative with family, and the 12-bed home is immaculately clean with sunny rooms, a patio, and beautiful grounds. Dr. Sandison's holistic, cutting-edge care (specialized diets, supplements, sauna/red-light therapy, oxygen-assisted exercise, hospice supervision, state certification) has given us real hope for cognitive improvement while residents are treated with dignity and prioritized. I'm grateful - it feels like a peaceful, welcoming healing oasis.

    About Marama

Marama sits on a peaceful, gated property in Vista at 727 Ascot Drive, and the community runs out of a large, custom-built two-story home that welcomes residents with plenty of natural light and beautiful hillside views filled with greenery, which you can enjoy from quiet outdoor sitting areas, and the place has a cozy, home-like feel since it houses only twelve residents at a time, with at least three long-term staff members on duty during the day. The care here is focused on dementia and Alzheimer's, offering services for people in mid to moderate stages, and the staff makes personalized care plans so each resident gets the right help. Marama follows Dr. Dale Bredesen's protocol, which is unique in the USA, with the goal of slowing or even reversing memory decline for those with Alzheimer's and dementia using a mix of medical support, brain-healing activities, and a specific diet.

Residents get three home-cooked, nutritious meals and two snacks daily, with food tailored for special diets like the organic Keto-Flex diet, vegan options, and allergy accommodations, earning recognition for tasty and healthy meals. The culinary experience includes family-style and formal dining, all enjoyed in beautiful indoor or outdoor spaces, with organic mattresses and linens in the rooms and non-toxic housekeeping services. Marama also has a special organic garden where residents can walk and help grow things like artichokes, which ties into classes on gardening, cooking, and herbalism.

The staff supports personal hygiene, medication management, and health and wellness programs, while residents can join cognitive therapies and activities like LiveO2, BioMat, infrared sauna, Joovv light, VieLight, yoga, chair exercises, journaling, book club, dual-tasking exercises, live music, meditation, group games, animal visits, confidence building, and monthly outings. Residents can also get personalized salon services for men and women, social and educational activities, and counseling.

Marama has a private, safe environment, providing a structured daily routine and immersive lifestyle program, focusing on helping people return to as much independent living as possible. The small size, caring team, and friendly community often earn praise for a loving atmosphere and individualized care. Marama has earned several awards, including the Best of Senior Living All Star Award for outstanding reviews and the Best Meals and Dining award. The facility operates Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and offers tours by application so families can see the place and programs for themselves. All these features work together to support residents' cognitive health and comfort, using evidence-based strategies to halt dementia progression and actively improve quality of life.
