    Beautiful facility but inconsistent care

I placed my loved one here and liked the beautiful, clean, home-like building, great views, tasty meals and lots of activities - many staff were friendly, compassionate and attentive. Unfortunately care was inconsistent: missed medications and ADLs, soiled briefs, delayed health updates and even unreported incidents, while management was evasive and billing/rent increases came without notice. High staff turnover and understaffing eroded trust and we eventually moved out. Lovely facility and many caring caregivers, but serious operational and leadership issues - do your due diligence.

About Peakview Assisted Living and Memory Care

Peakview Assisted Living and Memory Care sits in Centennial, Colorado, southeast of downtown Denver and east of the Cherry Creek Reservoir, in a quiet spot that's still close to neighborhoods like Southglenn, Dove Valley, Meridian, Lone Tree, and Highlands Ranch. The two-story building is home to seniors who need extra help with daily life or have memory concerns like Alzheimer's or dementia, and it's got a dedicated memory care section built with these needs in mind and secured with technology such as bracelets that help prevent wandering or residents getting lost, which is good to know if you're worried about safety issues. Residents can pick from several apartment layouts, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, and can even bring a cat or a dog along since the community's pet-friendly, and every apartment comes with transparent pricing, all utilities except telephone and personal WiFi, and weekly housekeeping and maintenance services, so no one needs to worry about chores piling up or anything breaking down and not getting fixed.

Assisted living helps with daily tasks-like reminders for medication, bathing, or getting dressed-and staff are on site 24 hours a day, with a nurse and doctor on call, ready to help with things like diabetic care, bowel or bladder incontinence, and mechanical lifts if needed for transfers, so folks can still be independent while knowing help's nearby. Memory care serves people with memory loss, even if there are major behavioral issues such as wandering or physical acting out, and uses the St. Louis University Mental Status Exam to check cognitive health. The community uses a Montessori-based philosophy to organize activities and routines, keeping things familiar and comfortable for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, so everyone stays engaged, and you'll find daily activities like arts and crafts, movies, stretching, Tai Chi, yoga, gardening clubs, and more, with both on-site and out-in-the-community events such as field trips, outings, and intergenerational programs, so there's usually something happening to keep people busy and social.

Dining's a focus here, with restaurant-style meals from a professional chef, including Anytime Dining, private dining rooms, special diets like low or no sugar, and even an option for room service when someone feels like staying in, and there are three meals a day, so nobody's left hungry or wondering when to eat. Services like physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, hospice, and respite care come right to the building, and salon and barber services are onsite, too, so haircuts and grooming don't need a trip out. The community supports spiritual needs by having devotional services both onsite and offsite and holds monthly meetings for residents so everyone can voice opinions or concerns. There's outside patio space, indoor and outdoor common areas to gather, and a real focus on making things homey and modern, but still safe and supportive, especially for folks who need memory-specific care.

Peakview's known for being a verified, licensed community with regular biannual reviews and has an overall review rating of 4.1 from 39 reviews, so people seem to like it well enough. The staff is trained for both assisted living and memory care, and they take time to get to know each resident, making care plans that fit unique needs and encourage independence. The place even supports the Alzheimer's Association and gets involved with programs like the Walk to End Alzheimer's. All told, there's a lot of support for everyday life-maintenance, meals, rides for appointments, social activities, and specialized care-and everyone works together to help residents get the most out of the day, which helps make it a pretty steady place for older adults wanting help but still wanting to feel like themselves.
