    Great for socializing, not medical

I appreciated the warm, home-like atmosphere - clean, small, and staffed by caring, attentive people and owners who made residents feel special with daily one-on-one attention, activities, family meals and strong communication (hospice support included). Staff went above and beyond and my loved one was well socialized and celebrated. That said, this home is not equipped for heavy medical needs: bedridden residents, incontinent care, diabetes/glaucoma meds or help with eating require 24/7 nursing that we did not receive; admission/POA handling felt questionable and it was expensive. If your family member needs high-level medical care, do not leave them here; for lower-level assisted living, I would recommend the caring staff.

    About Colorado CareAssist Cascade House

Colorado CareAssist Cascade House sits about 2.4 miles outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and offers assisted living in a smaller, home-like setting with just eight licensed beds for seniors who like a quieter pace. This place focuses on health, comfort, and daily personal care, with staff on hand at all hours to help residents get dressed, bathe, take their medicine, and move around safely, so you'll always find support when needed. There are both single and double bedrooms, all furnished and tended to by the housekeeping and laundry staff, and they change bed linens, do the dishes, keep things tidy, and vacuum so the rooms stay clean. Residents share meals in a dining room where they get home-cooked food with menu planning for special diets like allergies or diabetes, and there's a choice of drinks at every meal.

You see folks spending time outdoors on the front porch or in the fenced backyard, where you'll find raised garden beds for tending vegetables, and inside you might find them chatting in the television lounge with its big-screen TV and recliners. Residents can join in regular social and community activities, movie nights, and even music or entertainment events, and families get photos so they can see how everyone's doing. There are walking paths for those who like a stroll, and a library for quiet time, and the staff works hard to keep things social, friendly, and comfortable for everyone who lives there.

Caregivers at Cascade House are trained, insured, and bonded, and each has at least two years' experience in hands-on care. The facility provides a warranty of compatibility, so if something's not working with a caregiver, they'll monitor and arrange for someone else when needed. Staff can drive and help residents with errands, shopping, or trips to the doctor, using their own cars if needed. The care covers mobility assistance, incontinence care, help transferring in and out of bed, medication reminders, companionship, and ADLs-activities of daily living-like bathing, dressing, toileting, and eating. A licensed nurse is always scheduled per shift to watch over health needs. Seniors with higher needs, including non-ambulatory residents or those living with diabetes or memory issues, can get extra care, but Cascade House doesn't take Medicare unless certified by CMS.

This is a private-pay, licensed facility, checked regularly by local or state authorities, and you'll see reviews describing the place as clean, friendly, and social, with a 4.6 out of 5 rating from 9 reviews and an 8.5 out of 10 average, ranking it 28th among seniors' communities in the city. Residents get help as needed in a homelike, small community that values comfort, safety, and personal attention, whether someone needs respite care, long-term care, or memory care. House features include Wi-Fi, accessible layouts, close pets, and an emergency alert system for added security, with daily supervision and personalized care plans based on health and personal needs, so there's always someone looking out for you at Colorado CareAssist Cascade House.
