    Beautiful facility, caring but inconsistent

I toured and later moved my parent in - the place is beautiful and modern with spacious, well-appointed apartments, great common areas (pool, gym, theatre, salon, restaurant) and lots of activities. The staff are the real highlight: caring, professional and attentive, though high turnover and recent management changes have made staffing and communication inconsistent. Food is generally good restaurant-style but service/timing and meal availability can be unreliable. Memory care reviews were mixed - some compassionate care, some worrying lapses - and the facility is large and can feel impersonal. It's very well-maintained and secure but expensive, limited in availability/insurance options, and not ideal if you want a small, cozy community.

    About MacKenzie Place

MacKenzie Place sits in Fort Collins, Colorado, and offers older adults a place to live with many choices depending on how much help they need, so you'll see three types of living here-The Cottages for people wanting private homes with all the campus perks, The Terrace for those who are pretty independent and like apartments, and The Arbours for folks who need assisted living or memory care, which includes care for Alzheimer's and other dementias with a secured area. The campus is big and has a bit of a fancy feel with nice common spaces, big windows, a pool, a games and activity room, a theater, a fitness center, a library, and even a bistro along with private dining for times when family visits, and people seem to enjoy things like arts, crafts, social events, and wellness programs, plus there are indoor features like fireplaces and places to gather with friends. There's a chef making meals in a dining setup meant to feel a little more like a restaurant, but, like everywhere, the quality can vary. Some units have kitchenettes, and everyone gets access to washers, dryers, cable TV, and wifi, and little things like a salon and barbershop on-site make it easier for folks to keep up with daily routines. MacKenzie Place welcomes all pets, which isn't something every place can say, and staff offer scheduled rides for appointments or events, plus housekeeping and maintenance, and they'll help if you need it with walking, wheelchairs, or daily personal care, giving support so residents can do as much for themselves as possible. There are both private studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, with just twenty-six units, so the place isn't too large, and each one is built to feel cozy and safe, with sprinklers and safety features for peace of mind. People who need more nursing care or help can find help through licensed care on-site, and there's also access to things like home care, hospice, and respite if it's needed, and long-term care insurance is accepted. MacKenzie Place is all about staying active and connected, so every day there's a mix of education, recreation, fitness, and social events, and you'll notice the staff and management work to keep the place running smoothly, with an eye on both independence and support, which helps folks stay as independent as they can for as long as they want.
