High Plains Crossing Memory Care in Greeley, Colorado, sits at 7010 W. 8th St. and serves seniors who need memory care, with a special focus on people dealing with Alzheimer's and dementia, and you know, they really are set up for that, because the place used to be called Windsong at Northridge and now with Ascent Living Communities running things, they're spending nearly a million dollars fixing it up-things like new floors, updated furniture, better equipment, all sorts of stuff to make life easier and safer for folks, and the lobby's getting a new look too, making it feel more inviting when you first walk in, though while they work on those upgrades, the residents stay put in their own rooms, which probably makes things feel less disruptive, and there are 52 units, not too big and not too small, which means people can get to know each other, and it helps that there are both private and semi-private studio options. The building's all on one floor so you don't have to worry about stairs, and most everything's accessible for wheelchairs, plus there are things like secured outdoor patios, enclosed gardens, and safe courtyards, designed so people with memory issues can go outside without wandering off. The staff, including a nurse (though just part-time), get special memory care training and they handle things like medications, helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, and all those daily needs, and there's plenty of safety features-controlled entry, emergency call systems, fall prevention programs, regular checks, and a gated set-up for peace of mind. They support folks with activities to keep the mind working, life enrichment programs, yoga or stretching, arts and crafts, gardening, and even meditation; they've got brain fitness, and social get-togethers too, all to encourage engagement and keep life interesting, and if you want, you can bring your pet along. The facility handles housework, meals (room service is there if needed, or just simple, casual dining), and snacks-so there's not much to worry about for daily chores, and they even offer short-term respite care if someone needs a break now and then. Units come with climate controls for comfort, cable and Wi-Fi, just no kitchens in the rooms, so meals happen in the common areas. They accept checks, credit cards, and private pay, plus all-inclusive rent to simplify things, though they haven't posted exact prices publicly. Families can talk with a senior living advisor to figure out what's best for their loved one, and the community's got a good reputation-4.5 stars by customer reviews, based on real families sharing their experiences. The renovations should finish by spring, and all the upgrades aim to make the environment more comfortable, healthy, and pleasant, especially for folks living with memory concerns. High Plains Crossing focuses mainly on memory care, but you'll find the full range of care options-like independent living, assisted living, adult day programs, skilled nursing, home health, and hospice, all under one umbrella-though here, at this location, memory care is what they really work at. The management company, which is local to Colorado, keeps a close eye on things and they say their main goal is to help people stay as independent as possible while staying safe, comfortable, and connected to a caring community.

Attractive community, unstable staffing concerns
I toured this beautiful, clean Montessori-style community with bright common areas, varied activities and a music program that clearly lifts residents - many caregivers are warm and attentive. My concern is persistent staffing and management churn: low or untrained staff at times, unanswered calls, no transport to medical appointments, and rising fees; food is hit-or-miss. It feels safe and is a work in progress, but I wouldn't fully recommend until staffing and leadership stabilize.
