    Small caring staff but unsafe

I moved my mom in and overall the house is small, quiet at night, and Rachel and her team can be caring - the transition was smooth and some residents seem to be thriving. But I'm very worried about repeated medication errors/delays, disrespectful/overworked staff (yelling, marijuana odor), absentee management, misplaced/stolen belongings and laundry, poor meals and no activities, plus inconsistent security. Good atmosphere at times, but serious safety and care problems need fixing.

    About Peak Gardens Assisted Living

Peak Gardens Assisted Living sits in a quiet neighborhood in Lakewood, Colorado, with room for ten residents, which makes it feel small and comfortable almost like a real home where people know each other, and staff can really take their time with folks who need extra care or a gentle hand. The place focuses on assisted living, meaning seniors get help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and simple chores, and there's always someone around since staff are on duty 24 hours a day, including professionals with backgrounds in physical therapy. There are several studio room layouts to pick from so each person finds something that suits them, and the rooms are supervised regularly for safety. The setting has both indoor and outdoor spaces for sitting or visiting, and residents eat meals that use fresh ingredients, with vegetarian choices available and a beautician coming by for haircuts and grooming. The place gets high marks from families and residents, with community reviews showing a 9.3 out of 10 because of its kindness, helpful staff, and personal touch that puts everyone at ease.

Peak Gardens offers specialized support for seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia and provides dedicated memory care services that help with wandering, reminders, and other needs that come up with memory loss, and every part of the care is handled with honesty and respect, whether someone is staying long-term or just needs help now and then. Doctors and nurses coordinate care and use the Care Coordination Card system for keeping track of everyone's needs, plus there are assistive devices on hand, so if someone needs a walker or more help moving around, they won't be left out. The facility is licensed and follows rules checked by state agencies such as the Department of Aging or groups that look after veteran's needs, although it doesn't take Medicare since it's not certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, so families should keep that in mind.

The community focuses on keeping life comfortable and active, so seniors can join in activities right at Peak Gardens or go on trips nearby to parks and other safe spots. There's a set schedule of things to do which might include games, music, crafts, talks, or devotional services, so no one gets bored or left out, and there's plenty of time to just visit with friends or enjoy the peaceful property. The area also connects to health resources-like clinics funded by the Affordable Care Act and HRSA, plus links to elder abuse prevention, help for opioid or mental health issues, and even information about clinical trials.

All of the daily care gets planned around the idea of seniors keeping as much independence as they can but always feeling safe and respected in a setting that looks and sounds like home, with staff who know how to be both careful and friendly and who always take families' peace of mind seriously. The small number of residents means no one feels lost or overlooked, and the care team has enough time to check in often and keep up with what each person wants or needs. Meals are varied and nutritious, and every effort goes into making days pleasant and comfortable, whether someone's involved in a group activity or relaxing quietly. Peak Gardens Assisted Living stays committed to providing good care and a positive daily life for every resident living there.
