San Marino Retirement Community-Assisted Living sits on a spacious 10-acre campus in Westminster, Colorado, and you'll see right away the peaceful setting with pretty gardens, walking paths, koi ponds, waterfalls, and lots of mature trees that really make the place feel quiet and calm. The community offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care, so someone can move in for one type of care but have other options later, which is something families tend to like when planning ahead. San Marino's "Arbors of San Marino" Assisted Living helps seniors who need support with things like bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and remembering to take medicine, and they have physical and occupational therapy services onsite, too. Staff help with walking and wheelchair needs and offer diabetic care, medication management, and ambulatory care, making it a good fit for people who need those types of support every day. Memory care, called "Today's Memories," focuses on folks living with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia and includes raised garden beds and secure areas to prevent wandering and reduce confusion, which makes a difference for memory care families. There are studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments, plus some single rooms, and they all come with their own bathrooms, kitchenettes, and controls for heating and cooling so people can be comfortable in their spaces; every unit is also handicapped accessible so people using wheelchairs or walkers can get around just fine. The dining services are award-winning and provide three nutritious meals a day using quality ingredients in a cheerful dining room or with room service if someone prefers eating in their own space, and there's even a coffee bar where residents can spend time with friends. Group activities, both onsite and offsite, happen every day, and the staff keep things upbeat and involve people in games, exercise, movie nights in the theater, and devotional events in multiple languages-including English-so residents from different backgrounds feel welcome. The community offers regular religious services, transportation and parking for those who need it, and plenty of extra amenities, like housekeeping, laundry, and linen services, to make daily living easy. San Marino also allows some pets, so residents don't have to say goodbye to a small companion, which can mean a lot. Those living at home nearby can use San Marino's home care to get help from trained aides who offer non-medical support and companionship. This place has been recognized for friendly, helpful staff and a clean, welcoming environment, and it's known for strong dining and activities. People who tour the San Marino Retirement Community can get a look at daily life and see what fits best for their needs.

Beautiful grounds, mixed care quality
I moved my loved one here and my experience is mixed. I loved the beautiful gardens, aviary and aquariums, popcorn Wednesdays, clean rooms and on-time meds - many aides and front-desk staff (Jill) were warm, attentive and went above and beyond. Activities, dining areas, and private studios felt family-friendly and gave real peace of mind at first. Over time corporate changes and understaffing showed: management was often unresponsive, nursing and admin lapses occurred, language barriers and turnover made care uneven, and we experienced aggressive lease actions and ignored assessments. Food, housekeepers and some supervisors ranged from excellent to rude, and the building feels dated in places. If you need light, social assisted living this place can be great; I would not trust it for higher medical or memory-care needs under the current ownership.
