    Clean community with caring staff

I moved into this beautiful, very clean and well-kept community and feel right at home. The staff are friendly, professional and go above and beyond - from move-in help and responsive maintenance to proactive check-ins, medical transport and on-site nursing/rehab - and the activities, amenities (large updated apartments with mini-kitchens, exercise area, library, gardens, bus trips) and varied dining make life comfortable. Food is generally good but only one meal per day is covered, which affects value; overall I'm grateful, would recommend, and feel privileged to live here.

    About Arbors of Hop Brook

Arbors of Hop Brook sits in Manchester, Connecticut, as a family-owned life plan retirement community, and things have been running steady there for almost 30 years with local owners who seem to know the area well. The place offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing home services all in one spot, so folks who move in don't have to worry if their health needs change over time-they've got long-term care, post-hospital rehab, outpatient therapy, and even Manchester Manor, which is their own award-winning healthcare center right on the same property. Residents live in private one- or two-bedroom apartments that have full kitchens, large baths, plush carpet, and a good bit of closet space, and even though the grounds look nice, they also keep things safe with 24-hour security, an emergency call system, and security systems like smoke detectors and sprinklers throughout.

The community keeps busy with plenty of daily activities, a big annual Garden Party and outside concert, and special chances like the complimentary Lunch & Learn Medicaid Guidance Seminar where people can hear about paying for care. They've got wellness programs for everything-physical, emotional, social, and more-and there's a focus on helping everyone age in place, whether it's getting some help with meals or needing memory care for Alzheimer's, or maybe just help with medications. The apartments and common areas are handicap accessible, pets are allowed, and there's high-speed Wi-Fi for anyone who wants to keep in touch or watch a show. Meals are served in a nice dining room with menu choices for different diets-vegan, gluten-free, low-sodium, no sugar-as well as guest meals and a private dining room for family get-togethers or celebrations. Folks can get their hair done at the beauty salon, pick up odds and ends from the general store, or join in scheduled outings and entertainment off site if they want a change of scenery.

Support services cover the basics like housekeeping, linens, trash and snow removal, transportation, and maintenance, and aides are living right on the premises to help when needed. Clinical care coordinators and specialized staffing cover health management, medication help, non-ambulatory and incontinence care, and even provide hospice services if that time comes. Arbors of Hop Brook also runs homecare services for folks who might want to stay at home with some extra help. They've won awards for their meals, their activities, and friendly staff, which speaks to the effort made to keep residents comfortable and engaged, and they allow both men and women, have parking available, offer daily entertainment, and keep a strict no-smoking policy indoors. It's part of the service industry, focused on a secure and caring environment, and everything-meals, housekeeping, care, and much more-is set up to make daily life less of a chore and help people stay as independent as possible for as long as they can.
