Bel-Air Manor sits at 256 New Britain Ave in Newington, where it's been run by a family, so you get a real home-like feeling, and with 71 beds, it's not too big so that people get lost in the shuffle, but not so small that there's nothing going on, and the staff, who many say are caring and skilled, work round the clock to help folks with different needs like long-term care, short stays after surgery, rehab, and dementia care, as well as providing IV services and therapy. The place has a strong focus on patient-centered care, meaning staff and therapists, including physical and occupational therapy teams, work together on recovery plans that fit each person, with a special program just helping people get back on their feet and home to their community, which is called community reintegration, and the transitional care program helps a lot with recovery after hospital stays. What makes Bel-Air Manor a bit different is they offer specialized therapies like aquatic therapy using a Swim-Ex pool, and their outpatient rehab services let people come for therapy without staying overnight, which can be handy. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services has given them a 5-star rating, which says something about their dedication, and unlike some places, people seem to have a say in their care here, and programs accept most insurance plans, even workman's compensation. The dining room is set up restaurant-style, giving people a more enjoyable place to eat, and visiting hours run from ten in the morning to nine at night every day, so families can come by when it works for them. Anyone wanting to get a sense of the place online can visit belair-manor.net, and since Bel-Air Manor is part of Meta's platform ecosystem, signing in through social logins like Facebook and Messenger is an option too, which some folks these days appreciate for keeping up with family and updates. Overall, Bel-Air Manor tries to be welcoming for all residents, focusing on care and comfort instead of flashy extras, and while no place is perfect, the mix of therapy services, dedicated staff, and flexible rehab options seem to make it work well for many who need a helping hand during recovery or long-term care.

Compassionate staff but inconsistent care
My experience was mixed. I found the facility very clean and many staff (nurses, CNAs, therapists, front desk) compassionate, professional, and excellent in rehab/therapy. But I also experienced serious problems: repeated medication delays/missed doses, neglectful aide care (bathroom neglect, yelling, refusals), poor/unresponsive communication, conflicting information, unsafe staffing and lapses in discharge/coordination. Food and dining were inconsistent - some staff and meals were good, others were bland, repetitive or unsanitary. I appreciate the caring individuals there, but inconsistent safety and communication mean I'd be cautious about recommending it.
