    Pleasant building but mediocre food

I live here and it's a mixed bag: the building and dining room are pleasant and they provide three meals, meds on-site, laundry and medical transportation, but the food is mediocre. Staff feel indifferent with high turnover and limited management on weekends, Wi-Fi is unreliable, rooms are small with little storage, activities and outings are almost nonexistent (smoking allowed on the property), and the place can feel dirty and unfriendly.

    About Scofield Manor

Scofield Manor stands in North Stamford as a medium-sized residential care home built in 1931, serving about 50 elderly and disabled residents with a focus on maintaining independence and dignity, and while the building does show signs of age, needing ongoing repairs and capital improvements, it still manages to offer a safe environment with a full-time onsite Registered Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistants on each shift, all helping with health and daily tasks like bathing, dressing, medication, and personal care. Charter Oak Communities runs things here, and there's talk of maybe letting Center Management Group take over operations someday, plus there are conversations about privatizing some services to help with costs, and the facility's always attended to its historical roots in affordable and senior housing.

Residents at Scofield Manor have a choice of semi-private or private rooms, and the all-inclusive pricing covers three meals a day, laundry, housekeeping, and scheduled transportation which is important for those who need help getting to appointments or errands, and washers and dryers are available right on the property. The team here provides memory care services for people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, along with assisted living, nursing, and independent living, and there are health and wellness programs like blood pressure checks, foot care, diabetic care, and medication management. There's support for behavioral health and community resources that include opioid and suicide prevention, disaster mental health, and help with rehabilitation or counseling programs.

A mix of on-site and offsite activities fill the days, with social opportunities such as arts and crafts, billiards, woodworking, computer and aerobic classes, movies, and plenty of clubs and clubs and recreation, not to mention a focus on nutritious meals made with quality ingredients in a friendly dining room. There's a barber/salon, Wi-Fi, cable TV, fitness area, and common rooms where folks gather together. Residents can walk garden paths or sit outside on a patio, and there's safety equipment throughout, including handicap-accessible features and a 24-hour call system.

Scofield Manor partners with outside agencies such as CUCS for healthcare and social programs, providing things like counseling, substance use recovery, and educational activities, and it maintains connections with local organizations that support health, community leadership, and general well-being. The home allows small pets as part of the property features, though details aren't spelled out. Residents find scheduled transportation, help with getting dressed and moving around, personal laundry, and housekeeping as part of daily life, and the staff works to provide hands-on support. Despite the challenges of an older building, Scofield Manor stays dedicated to the care and engagement of its residents, giving them both privacy and community in a peaceful neighborhood.
