    About Kimberly Hall South

Kimberly Hall South in Windsor, Connecticut, is now closed, but, when operating, the place did have a lot going on for seniors who needed skilled nursing care and those living with chronic health problems, and they had 180 certified beds with an average of 104 residents a day, offering both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care, especially for folks dealing with dementia, heart issues, lung conditions, or those just needing help to recover after hospital stays, and they provided a safe environment with 24-hour supervision, a call system, medication management, and help with daily things like bathing, dressing, meals, and getting around, and you could find furnished rooms, laundry and housekeeping, regular activities and social events, as well as a garden, walking paths, movie nights, and even a barber or salon, which made it kind of like a small community. Now, the place put some extra effort into dialysis care, working with Fresenius Kidney Care to give both home peritoneal dialysis and in-center hemodialysis, and there was a special dialysis center nearby on Emerson Dr, so people who needed it could choose what worked best for them, and staff ran free classes on managing dialysis, explained treatment choices, and tried to keep both residents and families informed and educated, which really made a difference for people wanting control over their health-plus, they offered specialty care like Alzheimer's programs, orthopedic rehab, and a strong focus on holistic rehab and family involvement, all while supporting folks with things like transportation to doctor visits, pharmacy access, meal prep for special diets, and plenty of chances for social or creative activities through places like an arts room and community events. The place belonged to Complete Care and Genesis HealthCare, and was run for profit by a limited liability setup, and though staff turnover for nurses was lower than average at 26.7%, nurse staffing hours per resident were a bit under the state average, and inspection reports from late 2024 showed 25 total deficiencies, two of which were infection-related, and some were about resident rights, including issues with self-determination and communication about health changes, so while people got a lot of different care options here-including help for memory problems and cardiac or pulmonary support-it wasn't perfect, but staff did try to give useful resources and a decent environment for residents and their families thinking about senior care.
