    Excellent memory care, friendly staff

I moved my mom into the brand-new, beautiful facility and have been very pleased. Staff are friendly, professional, and know residents by name; care is top-notch with 24/7 memory-care nurses and on-site PT, podiatry, dermatology and PCP. The building is airy with wide hallways, wheelchair-accessible apartments, abundant daily activities, live entertainment and excellent food; onboarding was stress-free and the place feels clean and home-like. Downsides: rooms can be small, it's pricey, and meals have occasionally arrived late or not hot - but overall I highly recommend it.

    About Juniper Village at Newark

Juniper Village at Newark stands in a quiet, residential neighborhood just outside downtown Newark, close to Handloff Park and the University of Delaware, where about 90 older adults call it home, and folks find a place that offers independent living, assisted living, memory care with the Wellspring program, skilled nursing, and even short-term rehab, so whether someone wants their own space or needs daily help, they've got studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options available. The community used to be called The Vero at Newark, and the grounds always look clean and kept up, with gardens, raised beds, walking paths, and places to sit and chat. Residents can pick from different levels of care, and if someone needs help with things like bathing, dressing, or grooming, staff members are trained and described as friendly, caring, and available, especially in the memory care area where nurses are on duty round the clock. They make things lively with a bunch of activities, so residents can join arts and crafts, Bible study, dance classes, lunches in the on-site restaurant or bistro, movies in the community theater, or maybe try their hand at billiards or gardening, and they put effort into programs that help people feel engaged, with activities that support the spiritual, social, physical, and emotional sides of life. Folks with Alzheimer's or dementia get special support through Wellspring Memory Care, and their daily schedule encourages them to join in however they're comfortable. Nurses and therapy staff provide occupational, physical, and speech therapies for folks who need it, either for long-term care or short-term rehab after an illness or hospital stay. If someone likes to host a guest, there are guest rooms available, and both private and semiprivate rooms can be chosen. Services like laundry, linen, and transportation are taken care of too, so residents don't have to worry about chores. Housekeeping keeps shared spaces like the memory care living room, reception area, kitchen, and activity room tidy. For those wanting a vibrant, social lifestyle as they get older, or a safe setting with steady care, Juniper Village at Newark covers many options and strives to make it feel like home. It's licensed by the Delaware Division of Health Care Quality, and they're known for their personal care plans that try to match each person's needs.
