About The Cloisters Of Deland (CLOSED)

The Cloisters Of Deland, now closed and rebranded as Aventine at DeLand, used to sit in a quiet residential neighborhood and gave seniors a place to age with many care options. Residents could get help with daily activities, medication, bathing, dressing, and even transfers if they had trouble moving around, and the staff was there 24 hours a day in case of emergencies. Folks could choose from different living setups like studios, one-bedroom, suites, or private rooms, and many of these rooms had private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and even kitchenettes for those who liked to cook. The staff included nurses, therapists, caregivers, and aides, providing round-the-clock support-with services for light, medium, or heavy care, including skilled nursing, diabetic care, and incontinence care, plus support for people living with memory loss in a safe, locked memory care area so people who wandered would still be safe.

Residents could join all sorts of activities like line dancing, art classes, exercise, shopping trips, games, group outings to the beach and springs, movie nights, and parties, and the community had a swimming pool, hot tub, fitness room, gardens, piano, billiards, game room, and several comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing or visiting with friends. They could attend on-site or offsite church services, bible studies, or join in creative writing and crafts. The Cloisters Of Deland had a beauty salon, barber service, and a small library with computers, and offered pet-friendly rooms for those with cats or dogs.

Meals were served restaurant-style in a common dining room, and residents could choose vegetarian meals or meals prepared to fit special diets like diabetes, and there was meal service throughout the day, or residents could make their own food in their own kitchenettes. The place provided transportation for outings, shopping, doctor appointments, and day trips, and they had both free and low-cost ride choices for seniors who had stopped driving or needed help getting around. Housekeeping and laundry were included, along with community-run wellness and mental health programs to help people stay active and connected.

There were hospice and respite services, home care, aging-in-place help, and a two-person transfer system if someone needed more help with moving from bed to chair. Folks could join devotional groups right on campus, and there were always activities to encourage socializing and movement, from bingo and wii bowling to shuffleboard, golf, and arts programs. The Cloisters Of Deland kept on-site staff awake and available all night, so someone was always around if a resident needed something, and there was a 24-hour emergency call system in every room. Smoking was allowed outside, but never inside, and there were transportation and parking options for both residents and visiting family. While The Cloisters Of Deland is no longer open, it offered a wide range of services and amenities for seniors wanting a supportive and social place to live, with a strong focus on different levels of care as people aged.
