    Compassionate attentive staff, forever home

I've lived at Dayspring long-term and consider it my forever home - compassionate, attentive staff and outstanding leadership from Doug Adkins provide personalized, life-saving care and exemplary communication. I have independence in my own apartment, a nurse on duty, plenty of social opportunities, and staff who supported me through hospitalizations and made lasting friendships. It's faith-based, affordable, structured, and has given me meaning, stability, and peace of mind. Five stars - I wholeheartedly recommend Dayspring.

    About Dayspring Village

Dayspring Village sits in a quiet rural area and has served adults with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders since 1987, operating as a state-licensed Limited Mental Health Assisted Living Facility (AL #5766, AHCA License 5766) with 126 beds, and they also call themselves a family-focused facility where the staff really knows their work and tries to help both residents and their families. The Max Adkins Center is part of Dayspring Village, which draws on a mission to support adults with these mental health needs, and they use both traditional and non-traditional services, keeping things structured so residents can improve their daily living skills. The place has parking for visitors, it's fully wheelchair accessible, and every room has a private bathroom, television, air conditioner, and microwave oven, though some rooms are semi-private. Residents can expect three meals a day in dining rooms, along with help for personal care, medication management, laundry, housekeeping, money management, and supervised transportation, while activities include outings like field trips and shopping, regular picnics, holiday parties, and a Christian life ministry. For health, they provide on-site case management, crisis assessment, weight checks, laboratory services, Assertive Community Treatment, Physical Activity Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Group Therapy, Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment, Psychotropic Medication, and specialized programs for people with PTSD, military families, veterans, senior citizens, people with serious mental illness, and legal advocacy when needed. They also offer nursing home services, independent living, assisted living, continuing care retirement community programs, and memory care, and they've got smoking areas outdoors for those who need them. The Max Adkins Center provides community-based personal care and emphasizes helping each individual reduce symptoms and build life skills through ongoing support and redirection, offering residential treatment for addiction and mental health with supervised detox and inpatient rehab for things like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids, including special court-ordered options if needed, plus co-occurring disorder care for those dealing with both mental health and substance abuse. Payment options are broad, with Dayspring Village accepting Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, state welfare and corrections funds, private insurance, self-pay, and Department of Veterans Affairs funds. Each resident sees a robust activity program with scheduled visits for families, supervised shopping, and ongoing education opportunities like GED or college courses. Common areas are open to all, making it easy to meet others. The facility is connected to groups like the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Amelia Island Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Florida Health Care Association, reflecting a commitment to both quality and a wide local network, and they've always kept their focus on care and structure instead of flashy extras.
