    Mostly negative, some excellent therapy

I lived with my relative here and had a mixed, mostly negative experience. Rooms were small, often dirty or smelly with outdated furniture, missing basics (toilet paper, blankets) and cluttered halls - I saw gum on bed frames and blackened wipes in the bathroom. Staffing and communication were inconsistent: slow bell response, medication errors and delays, inattentive CNAs, overnight shifts were the worst, and falls/unsafe conditions were not handled properly. At the same time the rehab/physical and occupational therapy was excellent, nurses and a few caregivers (Theresa stood out) were compassionate, and the cafeteria/food and services like laundry and meds exist. The facility felt understaffed and money-focused after a sale, so while parts of care were very good, overall I would not recommend it for someone who needs reliable, safe daily care.

About Lake Placid Health And Rehabilitation Center

Lake Placid Health And Rehabilitation Center is a non-profit nursing home that's served the Lake Placid community for years and has always had a reputation for being a trusted place for care, with a staff that puts high standards first and stays closely tied to the people around them. The team of medical professionals develops personalized treatment plans that focus on each resident's physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and psychological well-being, so folks get the kind of help that fits their needs. The center offers skilled nursing services, short-term rehabilitation for things like recovery after an illness, memory care, and long-term care, as well as assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and keeping up with medication, all under 24-hour nursing supervision. The place has 180 certified beds and usually has about 142 residents each day, with a nurse turnover rate of 30.8%, which is lower than what's usually seen across the state, while reported nurse staffing hours per resident sit below average at 3.63 hours per day. Residents get access to outdoor spaces where they can relax or take part in activities, and the staff and leadership-like the Director of Nursing, Director of Business Development, and an Administrator-work to make the environment comfortable and caring, with a warm welcome for residents and families alike. The facility meets federal criteria for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and is accredited by The Joint Commission. Its policies allow for some choices around wearing facial coverings, and there are clear rules for when masks are needed for staff, visitors, and residents, especially if someone's sick or at risk. Lake Placid Health And Rehabilitation Center has had its share of inspection deficiencies too, with 24 on record including two linked to infection control and a handful related to resident rights, though they're committed to improving as time goes on. The center is tied to other healthcare facilities like Evans Health Care Center and Quality Health Care Center, and it stays engaged with the community through different partnerships. Rehab services are available right at the facility, even for recovery after things like pneumonia, and the staff aims to help residents get stronger and return home when possible. The nursing home carries out a whole-team approach, focusing on compassionate care and seeing caregiving as a labor of love. Feedback from residents and families shows that people pay attention to how care's delivered, and staff are always working to keep things personal and supportive. The facility's owners are Simcha Hyman and Naftali Zanziper, and Lake Placid Health And Rehabilitation Center is also linked with a facility that offers assisted living.
