Lakeland Hills Center sits as a non-profit nursing and rehab facility that's been newly updated, so you'll see spacious common rooms, gardens, and a walking path right outside, and you walk in and notice there's a focus on health and wellness, where a skilled team creates personal care plans for each resident using registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants all working together, and they've got rehabilitation programs with things like physical, speech, and occupational therapy right on site, which really helps folks needing extra support after an illness or surgery, and they include skilled nursing, post-acute care, short- and long-term care, and even palliative options and respite stays, so there's always someone to help or check in, whether that's for medication, bathing, dressing, or moving about for those who can't walk on their own, and family councils are encouraged, so families and residents can speak up about care and get answers. The place organizes activities for all sorts-music, games, fitness, and movie nights, plus resident clubs and outdoor time in the garden if people want that, and inside there's a library, art room, lounges, activity room, and a game space if you feel like being social or quiet, and meals are freshly prepared by professional kitchen staff, and they'll work with special diets when needed with a big focus on nutrition anyway, and you see private rooms with their own bathrooms, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and an emergency call system for quick help, and they also offer furnished apartments with kitchenettes if you want a little more independence, though you can always expect housekeeping, laundry, and transportation to be covered. The staff know their work, and the community offers memory care with special programs for dementia and Alzheimer's, with safety and support features that help people stay secure and as independent as possible, and nurses are around for 12 to 16 hours a day, with a call system and supervision 24 hours, every day of the week, all year. Residents get transportation and parking, and there are monthly family meetings to talk through ideas or worries, and the center accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, managed care, long-term care insurance, and private pay, which gives options to many families, and the main goal they've set is to treat everybody with compassion, respect, and dignity while being open to feedback, adapting as needs change, and making sure things run smoothly for everyone in the community. Neglectful unsanitary unsafe care facility
I had a mostly negative experience. A few staff (Dana, some therapists and admissions) were kind, professional and helpful, but the majority were unresponsive, rude or neglectful. Rooms and beds were often dirty and smelly, belongings went missing, meals were inadequate, and residents were left in soiled diapers for hours. Care was inconsistent-care plans ignored, specialists not seen, meds mishandled or left on the floor, delayed call-button response-resulting in poor monitoring, ambulance/hospital transfers for dehydration/sepsis, and major safety concerns. Communication and follow-up were terrible; I cannot recommend this facility despite a handful of compassionate employees.
