    Caring clean ALF with issues

I'm a long-term resident and I love it here - the cleanest, well-kept non-profit ALF with caring, humble owners (Marie & Patrick), compassionate, attentive staff, and delicious home-cooked meals. The place feels like family: new roof, new flooring and furniture, helpful maintenance, free haircuts, transportation, and close to restaurants and parks - I feel safe and grateful. A small caution: I experienced a medication mix-up and there are occasional concerns about management tone and cost priorities, but overall I'm blessed and comfortable here.

    About Royal Oaks Manor

Royal Oaks Manor sits at 1833 Seminole Blvd in Largo, Florida, and is a smaller, family-owned senior living community that welcomes up to 36 residents in a close, home-like setting where folks can feel comfortable and well-looked after, and the staff are around day and night to help with just about anything, so people don't have to worry if they need something in the middle of the night or during the day. The place has private studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and semi-private rooms, and each room comes with things like air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, Wi-Fi, and some have washers and dryers right in them, which makes daily living easier. Payment options are broad; they take private pay, commercial insurance, Social Security, and veteran's benefits, and the fees can include community, respite, buy-in, and different levels of care costs.

Royal Oaks Manor provides assisted living, independent senior apartments, memory care for folks with Alzheimer's and dementia, and even skilled nursing home care, hospice care for those who need it, and short-term respite stays, which gives families a break if needed. They help with everything from getting in and out of bed or a wheelchair, bathing, dressing, eating, using the bathroom, walking, and managing medicines, and they support people with diabetes and special diets, so people get the care they're supposed to have. A special team helps memory care residents and those with mild cognitive trouble, and the staff can handle non-ambulatory and incontinence care as well. There are also hospice and dementia waivers, which some people may need.

The meals here are home-cooked and served three times a day with snacks, and they'll work with dietary restrictions due to allergies or medical needs. Housekeeping and laundry happen regularly, with floors being swept and mopped daily, personal cleaning help, and supplies for keeping up good hygiene. The owners and staff show a lot of love and kindness, treating everyone like family, which gives the place a peaceful, friendly feeling, and the place stays clean and well-maintained with modern touches inside and a new slate roof overhead.

Royal Oaks Manor holds all kinds of activities-daily events, movie nights, music, animal therapy, devotional and arts programs, exercise classes, and creative projects, plus they offer group trips outside, table games, and walking paths in the gardens. There's a library, fitness center, game room, art space, dining hall, and barber or beauty shop for residents, and people gather for shared meals or social events in the activity rooms. If anyone needs to go to the doctor, worship, do errands, or just go out shopping, the staff can set up transportation, which makes things less stressful. Guests and visitors are very welcome, and the community spirit encourages friends and family to drop in or join an activity, making it feel less lonely for everyone.

The facility is licensed by the Florida Department of Social Services, upholds Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity laws, and offers safety features like sprinklers and emergency call buttons to keep everyone safe. People can ask questions, take a tour, or request a brochure, and the idea is to keep things simple, focusing on helping people stay active, social, and cared for, without fuss or show. The location is close to local parks, shops, and restaurants, offering easy options for outings and visits. The building feels calm, the staff are helpful and always near if you need them, and there's always something gentle and useful happening to help folks feel at home.
