    Compassionate staff, mixed facility upkeep

I found the staff consistently caring, supportive and attentive - they help residents stay independent, offer nice activities, good food, outdoor spaces and a secure memory-care option. The rooms are roomy with private baths, balconies/porches, and the place can be affordable with age-in-place levels of care. The building is older and maintenance is mixed: some areas are spotless and recently updated, while others feel dingy, unkempt or poorly cleaned; staffing and medical responsiveness can also be inconsistent. Overall I'd recommend it for the compassionate staff and value, but I'd inspect cleanliness, upkeep and nursing coverage closely before deciding.

    About Vick Street Manor

Vick Street Manor is a senior living community that tries to keep things safe and comfortable for folks who need care, whether they're living on their own, need a little help, or need specialized care for memory problems like dementia or Alzheimer's. The staff knows how to handle many care situations, including helping people with memory loss, those who can't walk on their own, and even those with significant behavior issues, and there are nurses and other health professionals who visit, like doctors, podiatrists, and various therapists. They're available all day and night, every day, to help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, or taking medicine, and they can handle insulin shots, blood sugar checks, and incontinence care, and they're used to reminding residents to use the restroom if needed, plus they're okay working with people who sometimes act out or might want to wander off, since there's a secure memory care area in a separate building for people who need that.

Vick Street Manor offers different floor plans, and residents can pick the one that suits them, and you'll find indoor and outdoor spaces, like screened lanais, movie areas, and both big and small places to sit and visit, plus you can watch a movie in high definition with your friends or sit outside for some fresh air, since they have outside seating areas and even allow smoking outside if that's important to you. Pet lovers can bring pets if they pay a pet deposit, which helps a lot of people feel more at home, and meals are included, with kosher and vegetarian options available so you don't always have to cook or shop, and they have meal services that make things simpler as people age.

Vick Street Manor gives help where needed, like with housekeeping, laundry, and scheduled transportation, and the buses are handy if you want to go anywhere or need a ride to local medical appointments; they also offer transportation you can pay for if you need it, or there's some complimentary transport, and there's parking for residents too. Safety is a focus, so you'll see medical monitoring, a two-way emergency call system in place, and programs aimed at keeping dignity and risk management in mind, which is reassuring for families, and they accept adults of any gender who are at least 18 years old. They have supportive amenities for comfort, and you can do respite or short-term stays if you just need a break for a little while, and they support aging in place, which means you can stay there even if you need more help as time goes on.

If someone wants something to do, there's a social calendar, onsite and offsite activities, wellness programs, and devotional services, and though there are no specific activities always listed, the place tries to encourage movement and socializing, and sometimes even lets residents help out with little jobs like putting out chairs for dining, so folks don't feel left out or bored. Vick Street Manor is owned and run by Family Extended Care, Inc., and they try to help seniors and families figure out the kind of care they need with options like assisted living, independent living, memory care, respite care, and even help for those needing hospice. The general feeling around Vick Street Manor is that people get to make choices and keep some freedom and independence, but there's always someone nearby to lend a hand whenever help is needed.
