    Beautiful facility; inconsistent, neglectful care

I'm torn. The facility is beautiful, spotless, with large accessible rooms and excellent rehab staff - some employees were very helpful and assisted with paperwork - but care is wildly inconsistent. I've seen rude, neglectful behavior (residents left in soiled diapers for hours, untreated wounds), denied visitation/privacy issues, and constant staff turnover. Meals and activities are poor despite the very high cost. Proceed with caution - this place needs investigation.

About The Village at Vienna Square

The Village at Vienna Square sits at 701 Overlook Drive in Winter Haven, FL, and you'll find it has a modern look with a homelike feel, designed by Marlon Lynn Architect, PA, and finished in 2010. The whole place covers about 104,000 square feet and includes assisted living, independent living, and memory care all in one spot. Folks can pick from one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments, each with kitchenettes, private bathrooms, and walk-in showers, all furnished for comfort and convenience. Residents have access to cable TV, WiFi, and telephone, plus services like housekeeping and fresh linens so that daily living's a bit simpler.

You'll see there's a big dining room set up for restaurant-style meals, with the kitchen staff handling special meal requests, dietary needs, and even diabetes diets as needed, while a group lunchroom offers opportunities to sit with neighbors. For activities, there's a full calendar of both community-sponsored and resident-run events, with things like arts and crafts in the arts room, movies in the movie theater, and a small library for reading. People can visit the hair salon, spa, snack shop, or use beautifully-appointed common spaces, plus take a walk in the garden or on the walking paths whenever they want.

When it comes to care, the Village provides 24-hour supervision, an emergency alert system, and a call system in every room, along with nursing care for those who need it around the clock. Staff can help with bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication management, and there's mental wellness programming too. The rehabilitation center in Cypress Gardens offers therapy, adaptive sports, and vocational training, while the on-site skilled nursing facility cares for those with greater medical needs. For folks who aren't staying long, respite care is available too.

Special programs, like Dreamplex Therapeutic School, focus on education and support for people with disabilities, and the staff also offer family support and community events. Residents have the choice to join educational programs, recreational activities, or just enjoy quiet time in their apartments, and daily life gets a bit easier with regular housekeeping, laundry, and meal service. The Village at Vienna Square is part of Astoria Senior Living, which brings a focus on compassionate medical care and supporting independence for everyone, no matter their needs, and aims to help residents reach their highest potential. Medicaid and Medicare are both accepted, and the community follows laws against discrimination. The place holds a 3.2-star rating based on 70 reviews, and while there isn't information about pets, it's clear the community is built as a steady, supportive environment for seniors and their families who want a range of living and care options.
