    Wonderful amenities but inconsistent management

I've lived at The Piedmont at Buckhead for several years - the apartments, location, heated pool, gym, gorgeous common areas, lively activities and many warm, friendly staff and a talented chef make it a very social, beautiful place for independent living. That said, management has been inconsistent: frequent staff turnover, understaffing, slow or defensive responses to complaints (including poorly handled serious incidents), spotty maintenance/cleaning, and rising costs. If you want active independent living and great amenities I'd recommend it, but it's not the right choice if you need reliable assisted-care or strong, responsive management.

    About The Piedmont at Buckhead

The Piedmont at Buckhead sits in a high-rise building with a grand lobby and offers spacious studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, many with walk-in closets, patios or balconies, full kitchens with granite countertops and cherry cabinets, and in-unit washers and dryers, so people can bring their own style and routine with them if they want. Residents here can choose independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care with nursing and home care services on the same campus, and the building is licensed and CARF-accredited for safety and standards, with a 24-hour care team and a medical alert system in place if anyone ever needs it, which can be a comfort for folks who worry or whose families worry about those sorts of things. Daily help is available for bathing, dressing, medication management, and more, and there's a Points system for those in assisted living that can mean more support if care needs change, although sometimes there's a little confusion over changes and how things are communicated, and there've been a few concerns about cleanliness raised in the past, as happens just about anywhere with a lot of activity and people coming and going.

The community's pretty lively, with a calendar full of social and cultural events, activities running from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm including trips to museums, the symphony, art exhibits, and regular shopping outings, and lots of everyday things like billiards in the Copper Lounge, movies in two in-house theaters, art classes, and book clubs. The ZEST programs focus on movement, nutrition, and creativity, with options like strength and balance exercises, yoga, gardening, and music therapy, hoping to help people keep their bodies and minds active. The Enliven memory care program follows guiding ideas about expression and connection, and the Assure program steps in with extra support after hospital stays to help avoid re-hospitalization, which can be a big worry for some families. People living with Alzheimer's and other types of memory loss get extra care that values relationships, movement, and personal routines, aiming to help them feel as independent and connected as possible.

Dining gets special attention at The Piedmont at Buckhead, too, with restaurant-style meals, linen tablecloths, fine china, daily fresh specials, and two main restaurant venues open 12 hours, so folks can choose early or late dining, and the menu includes plant-based FreshZest options for those who prefer that sort of thing. There are monthly Let's Dish sessions for chatting with the chefs and sampling new dishes, and the staff encourages residents' feedback on meals, which makes it feel a bit more like home. Services like room service, scheduled housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, shopping help, and a concierge desk are part of the package, along with covered and underground parking, a gated entrance, pet-friendly rooms, and transportation to appointments or outings. For spending time or relaxing, there are landscaped terraces, a swimming pool, spa, beauty salon, barber shop, fitness center with group classes, a library, a high-speed internet lounge, and an on-site market for groceries or snacks.

The Piedmont at Buckhead is known for its friendly and supportive staff, which is something families and residents mention often, and the community philosophy called Genuine Hospitality puts the focus on the individual and whole-person well-being, including socializing, learning, exercise, spa treatments, and wellness programs like Zestful Living. The building is handy and accessible for those who use wheelchairs or walkers, with Wi-Fi and utilities included in the rent except for phones, and there are always licensed nurses on site for those who choose assisted living plans, along with emergency call systems. All in all, the place tries to balance independence and support, encourages connection through its programs, and welcomes pets. People looking for a variety of senior living choices, skyline views, modern spaces, and an active schedule will probably find something to appreciate at The Piedmont at Buckhead, but as with any big community, it's good to pay attention to the details and talk with residents during a visit to make sure it feels right.
