    Gorgeous building unreliable care management

I love the gorgeous, resort-like building, grounds and many of the caregivers - several staff (including director Candice) were kind, welcoming and went above and beyond. But my experience was mixed: chronic management turnover, poor communication, an often unmanned front desk and broken check-in/security systems left me worried. Staffing shortages and agency workers led to missed or mixed medications, delayed call responses, neglected housekeeping/laundry and even slow responses to falls. Dining and activities are hit-or-miss - sometimes excellent, often lacking nutrition or follow-through. I appreciate the compassionate front-line staff, but operational, safety and billing issues make this poor value; I would not recommend without seeing clear, sustained improvements.

    About Oaks at West Cobb

Oaks at West Cobb sits on Ernest W Barrett Pkwy NW in Marietta, Georgia, and is a family-operated retirement community opened by Oaks Senior Living, a company with over 25 years of service since 1998, and it's one of those new two-story buildings with roomy studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments designed for seniors who need assisted living, memory care, or just want independent living without the hassle of home upkeep, and the building itself is bright with a big glass wall by the main dining room that opens to an outside patio for dining, all feeling quite open and airy, while inside there's a country kitchen, a small bistro, and a little café or sweet shop, and the greenhouse out back is something else too, because residents help run it and grow fresh herbs and vegetables that taste good in the meals. The community goes out of its way to offer all-day dining with restaurant-style service, so folks can eat when it fits their day, and the wide hallways open up to well-lit shared spaces and comfy spots to sit and talk, and for those who like the outdoors, there are landscaped patios with water features, a putting green for golf fans, walking trails that make for a nice stroll, and even a children's playground so families can feel welcome when they visit. Pets are part of the community too, with a pet play area, and the place welcomes cats, dogs, and birds, while a pet therapy program brings a lot of smiles and calm for folks who miss having animals around, and sometimes local school children visit for music and social activities that brighten the day. The memory care neighborhood stays fully secured, using special features like grab bars and emergency pull cords, so people with memory loss can move freely but safely, and the assisted living side gives support while allowing each person to choose their daily routine, aiming for independence and dignity every step. Trained caregivers are always around 24 hours a day for medication help, personal care, and emergencies, and a nurse drops by twice a week, while transportation services make it easier for appointments and errands, and housekeeping gets done so nobody has to worry about chores, and physical therapy is provided on-site. Oaks at West Cobb is faith-based, always aiming for compassion, and the management talks about holistic wellness, which means focusing on the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of residents, and the apartments all come with appliances and space for familiar belongings. The cost for care has different options based on what help is needed, with seven main care levels, and respite care is available too for those looking for a short stay. The community keeps relationships and family time important, holding musical events and welcoming visits across generations, and it's part of the Georgia Senior Living Association, staying active in local education and advocacy, with Kelli Clark as the dedicated contact person.
