    Caring staff, serious safety concerns

My mom loves it here - the caregiving staff are caring, communicate with family, and create a home-like, active environment. However, the building needs renovations (painting, new furniture/curtains), bathrooms lack ventilation and in-room toilets, and there's no proper activity space. I've had serious safety/professionalism concerns: staff were at times rude and inconsistent, failed to report multiple falls, refused EMS, and my mom was once dehydrated and hospitalized - recommend cautiously until management fixes these issues.

About The Rachel House Personal Care Home

The Rachel House Personal Care Home sits in Sparks, Georgia as a small and quiet senior living place, known for being clean and well kept, where residents have choices between studios, single rooms, and semi-private living spaces, and there, caring and joyful staff pay close attention to the little things, with people saying the staff is always friendly and the meals are good, which you can see from community awards like "Most Friendly" and "Best Meals and Dining." The facility has only 12 licensed beds, which lets them give personal help to each resident, and it's licensed both as a Residential Care Home and a Personal Care Home, so they offer a retirement alternative to a nursing facility, focusing mainly on independent and healthy seniors but still offering care for those who need help with showering, getting in and out of bed, taking medicine, and living with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or needing continence help. The place has 24-hour awake staff for safety, and they help with daily things like dressing, bathing, laundry, housekeeping, and even getting to medical appointments.

In terms of lifestyle, the Rachel House Personal Care Home sets up activities that give everybody something to do, whether that's movie nights, arts and crafts, outings, Bible study, or just time to relax in the reading room or game room, and there's always some social event or game happening to bring folks together, which helps people feel less lonely. The building itself features several comforts like a community kitchen, private dining room, fitness center, and walking paths and a garden where people can spend time outside, and there's even a beauty salon right in the building for haircuts every couple weeks. For health, there's a staff dietitian, meals planned by chefs and planners who take special care with allergies and diabetes, medication management, and 24-hour supervision, plus an in-room emergency response if anything goes wrong. For families, there's parking, and the staff work with doctors and families to make sure every need is met, whether it's making the bed, remembering a birthday, or arranging a ride to town.

Rachel House also stands out for having some unique programs, including specialized palliative care for children with life-limiting illnesses and a commitment to helping marginalized groups get better care; they run home-based care programs, reach into the community for partnerships, and even teach healthcare workers and neighbors how to help, which you don't see everywhere. The emergency alert systems give peace of mind, and with only 12 rooms, people know each other, and the staff know everybody by name. The staff, the activities, and the meals all get special attention, showing that even small places can do a lot to make life good for the people living there, and the staff always seem to go the extra mile to make sure the residents feel like they're truly at home.
