BeeHive Homes of Woodstock stood as a small, state-licensed personal care home with 24 licensed beds, designed with features to make it feel like a family house instead of a big facility, and the rooms all had cable wiring and private spaces for residents needing alone time. The place offered assisted living and memory care services for seniors who could use help with daily activities, and it did this with a 24-hour awake staff always present to help with medication, bathing, dressing, transfers, mobility support, and personal hygiene. It wasn't certified by Medicare & Medicaid and didn't accept Medicare for care services, but it did have all-inclusive pricing that covered meals, laundry, light housekeeping, companionship, and even move-in coordination services, which made it easier for families to understand costs. The care team regularly checked residents' needs and changed their plans as needed, especially for those living with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's, offering personalized care and strong supervision at all hours. Social life was important, and there were plenty of group activities like movie nights, fishing, quilting, crocheting, gardening groups, arts and crafts, and a musical group, all meant to help residents stay engaged and feel part of a family community. The home had wheelchair-accessible rooms, help for non-ambulatory residents, private rooms, an emergency alert system, and various furnished lounges and community dining areas where everyone could gather for meals, story time, and even special diets like allergy or diabetes-friendly meals. Staff and residents often described BeeHive Homes as a place where people became like family, helped by a design meant to keep things peaceful and home-like, with outdoor patios, gardens, on-site barber and beauty salon services, and lots of space to enjoy the outdoors. The facility also provided short-term respite care for those needing help for a little while, adult day services, and coordination with home health and hospice when advanced care was needed, though pets weren't allowed. BeeHive Homes of Woodstock is now permanently closed, but for a time, it worked to blend personalized care, comfort, and simple living for seniors, especially those needing memory care or a gentle transition from independence to assisted living.
