    Warm capable care, requires vigilance

I found the facility pleasant overall: happy residents, spacious wheelchair-accessible apartments with kitchenettes, spotless common areas, a grand piano and frequent entertainment, and lots of activities. Staff are overwhelmingly friendly and caring - excellent nurses, CNAs, therapists and social work; admissions/business office were supportive, and on-site rehab and all levels of care plus transport to appointments are very convenient. Food is often tasty but sometimes cold or missing silverware, and it's expensive but generally good value if you can afford it. My major concerns were medication/order delays, slow nurse response and coordination hiccups with agency staff, plus occasional unsanitary or neglectful incidents (missed repositioning, wound deterioration, equipment delays) - having an advocate on site made a big difference. I recommend visiting, checking fit, and insisting on clear med and wound follow-up; it's warm and capable but requires vigilance.

About Valley View Nursing and Rehab

Valley View Nursing and Rehab sits at 1140 N Allumbaigh St in Boise, Idaho, and takes care of elderly folks who need skilled nursing or therapy to bounce back after surgeries or accidents, and it sure has a lot of features you wouldn't find everywhere else, like round-the-clock skilled nursing from an experienced team who handle all sorts of daily care, pain management, medication, and hygiene needs, plus short-term or long-term care plans depending on what residents need. This place brings together skilled nurses, licensed therapists, a registered dietician, and a medical director who checks in during select hours and stays on-call, covering everything from wound care and stroke recovery to memory care and even a secured dementia unit for those who need extra safety and help with memory issues, and there's hospice and respite care, too, if families need support or a break.

Physical, occupational, and speech therapists help with everything from outpatient therapy and post-surgery rehab to cardio/pulmonary and neuro therapy, and many rehabilitation services here are covered by insurance. Valley View has personalized care so that daily routines fit each resident, and staff even help with post-orthopedic care, balance training, cognitive training, urinary incontinence, and bariatric care, which means the folks here take on a wide range of issues with dignity in mind. Residents get amenities for comfort, like private rooms with high-speed internet, cable TV, and climate control; you've got a beauty salon and barber shop on site, a fitness center, laundry, housekeeping, pretty courtyards to walk in, and secure outdoor patio space for fresh air.

There's also transportation to medical appointments and errands, and staff help with medication management and basic essentials, though people should bring comfy clothes and what makes them feel at home, minus jewelry or valuables to keep things safe. Folks here join in on life-enriching activities, wellness programs, arts and crafts, gardening club, games, grocery trips, outings, birthday and holiday parties, and even religious services, plus a gathering room and a theater for live shows or movie nights. From social events to safety checks and family education, staff aim to keep everyone engaged and comfortable. You'll find services for both long-term residents and folks who are just stopping by for rehab, and floor plans make it easy to get in and out, which helps compared to many other homes.

Valley View's staff focus on making stays as positive and respectful as possible, without pushing people to do more than they're able, and the place holds Medicare and Medicaid certifications. It has resources for both brokers and providers, plus local plans in Idaho, and stands as an Eduro Healthcare facility that people have come to recognize for reliable skilled nursing and therapy services. Pets are welcome, which matters to some people, and every amenity, from the private dining area to the gathering rooms, aims to support comfort, safety, and health for every individual. The place doesn't offer drug or alcohol rehab, but it does handle the medical and recovery needs of those dealing with age, illness, and recovery from surgery or accidents, always with an experienced team ready to meet different needs.
