    Loving caregivers but unsafe management

My experience was mixed but ultimately troubling. A few caregivers were loving, respectful and competent and the place was often clean and calm, but management felt money-driven and unresponsive - safety concerns I raised were ignored, I witnessed neglect and unsafe conditions, and I was even threatened by the owner, Scott. I can't recommend it.

    About Magic Valley Manor

Magic Valley Manor sits in a building that's been around for more than 100 years, first built as a hotel, then used as the Wendell Hospital, and after sitting empty for a number of years, it's now an assisted living home again, owned by SafeHaven Health Care, and they've put a lot into upgrading and expanding it, spending over a million dollars on modern touches while making sure to keep the place preserved for the future. The Manor is a family-owned, state-licensed community with more than 35 years of experience in caring for older adults, including those with Alzheimer's, behavioral health needs, or other special support needs, and the place offers nursing care and assisted living, with services in memory care as well, which means if someone's got confusion or tends to wander, there are systems in place to keep them comfortable and safe.

Rooms at Magic Valley Manor can be private or shared, each with either a half or full bath, a bed and dresser, and every room's on the ground floor so there aren't any stairs for folks to worry about, with wheelchair accessible showers and bathtubs for easier use. The campus stays secure with controlled entry and 24/7 surveillance cameras, and staff are always around, with a nurse on call day and night, plus regular visits from doctors or physician assistants who come each week to check up on everyone's health. Meals get prepared cafeteria-style and follow plans from a dietician, and they serve three meals and three snacks each day, with kosher and vegetarian options so folks can eat what fits their needs and beliefs, and home-cooked meals are always part of the routine.

Residents can bring cats or dogs if they'd like, and there are friendly transportation options, even for pets, as well as parking spots for those who need them. Staff help with everyday needs like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and they keep an eye on diabetic and incontinence care, and they handle non-ambulatory care too if moving around gets tough. There's a full schedule of activities - everything from weekly religious services and devotional times to community outings, educational events, physical and recreational programs, and group activities, both inside and out, so days don't feel dull or lonely, and the focus stays on building human connections and a sense of social belonging.

Magic Valley Manor also provides counseling, peer support, memory care therapies, access to physical and occupational therapy, and structured programs for those who need help with behavior or memory. Laundry and housekeeping get taken care of, smokers have their spots, and folks can leave campus if they want, as long as it's safe to do so. The facility has received a Silver Award for its inspection, keeps everything homey but modern, and makes sure to promote independence while offering all the help needed, including things like respite care or adult day care stays, and home health or hospice care for those who might need extra support. There's a real balance of community and privacy, with choices for how much company to keep, and always a trained staff ready to help residents feel as comfortable and safe as possible in this long-standing, freshly renewed home.
