    Friendly staff, lovely amenities, pricey

I live here and overall my experience has been positive: the upgraded building, beautiful chapel, new café, library, gym and outdoor spaces are lovely, the staff are friendly and often attentive, meals are restaurant-style, activities are plentiful and I've made meaningful friends. My complaints: it's pricey, sales follow-up was terrible, maintenance can be slow (I once had to plug a shower nozzle myself and my thermostat couldn't switch modes), and the memory-care area felt outdated and isolating - not suitable for advanced dementia. I'd recommend it for active seniors who want a strong social community and the ability to escalate care, but be wary if you need high-quality memory care.

    About Hearthstone of Arlington Heights

Hearthstone of Arlington Heights offers several kinds of care for older adults, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, respite care, and rehabilitation, with everything under one roof in a large, 100-bed community that anyone looking for a range of living options might appreciate, whether you need a studio, a one-bedroom, or a two-bedroom layout, and you can choose from private suites or shared rooms, which come fully furnished, each with kitchenettes, private bathrooms, and air-conditioning, so everybody can find something comfortable for their specific needs. You'll see staff there all day and night helping with daily activities, medication management, and moving between bed and wheelchair if needed, plus there's 24-hour supervision, emergency call systems, and certified nursing care on-site, which brings peace of mind for residents and families who worry about safety or health emergencies. The facility prepares meals using organic food and ingredients, offers basic cable, Wi-Fi, phones, and has weekly housekeeping and personal laundry, so folks don't have to keep up with chores, and everything's maintenance-free, which means cooking, cleaning, and upkeep are taken care of, and meal prep is something the kitchen staff handle.

Hearthstone has many indoor and outdoor spaces-like park-like grounds, courtyards, gazebos, raised garden beds, an on-campus chapel with a historic organ and two full-time chaplains for support, a big library with public library books, cozy common areas for social time, and dining spaces that cover different needs, including Jenny's Bistro for quick options, a chef-inspired main dining area, a private venue for special gatherings, and even a coffee shop and general store on campus, so daily life isn't just about health care but about having choices and enjoying where you live. Programs at Hearthstone focus on keeping people active in body and mind, with wellness activities such as yoga, tai chi, art classes, and music through the MyVitality program, and for residents living with memory problems, there are stage-informed care neighborhoods and the MyTapestry program that support both members of a couple even if only one has memory care needs, all of it guided by a full continuum of support at every stage of Alzheimer's or dementia, including short-term rehab, MyRehab services, daily help, and therapies for those who need them.

For anyone needing skilled nursing or outpatient rehab, Hearthstone has a state-of-the-art gym and therapy courtyard for physical, occupational, speech, respiratory, and lymphedema therapy, and skilled staff help monitor chronic conditions like diabetes and help manage medications, all with licensed care. There's transportation arranged for medical appointments, which helps when people can't or don't want to drive, and the facility also covers needs like respite stays, short-term care, adult day services, child care for families, and home care support, making it easy for family caregivers to get the extra help they might need or just take a break. The community uses a nonprofit, mission-based approach and aims to preserve dignity, privacy, and independence for each resident, offering unique programs like the Lutheran Home Assisted Living and Cherished Place Adult Day Services, plus move management support for smoother transitions. Hearthstone serves couples and single residents, has spaces for intergenerational programs, and makes an effort to support whole-person care, with every detail-from climate control to weekly linens to secured neighborhoods for memory support-set up to help each resident live as well as possible. The community is open now and always has staff available, offering several fee types depending on the level of care, so people can get the support they need for as long as they need.
