    Compassionate affordable care with drawbacks

I placed my dad here and overall I'm pleased - the staff are genuinely kind, knowledgeable and attentive, the food is excellent, and activities keep residents engaged. The place is very clean, affordable, and offers skilled care when needed, but it's an older building with small rooms (some shared baths) and dated furnishings. For families wanting compassionate, budget-friendly care, this is a solid choice; if you need newer facilities or larger private suites, look elsewhere.

    About Jennings Terrace

Jennings Terrace has cared for seniors in the Fox Valley area since 1943, offering safe and affordable housing for adults age 50 and over, and the whole place is set up to feel like home with private and semiprivate rooms, including some 2-bedroom apartments, and you'll find both indoor and outdoor common areas, patios, and gardens where people gather or spend quiet time. Folks live as independently as they can with lots of support if they need it, choosing from independent living, assisted living, sheltered care, memory care, long-term nursing care, and hospice or respite care, so you'll see most people can stay here if their needs change, getting more help with things like bathing, dressing, or medication management, and there's 24/7 nursing on staff, with RNs, LPNs, medication care managers, and trained aides. People with dementia or Alzheimer's can get specialized memory care in a safe area designed to help cut down confusion and wandering, and the nurses help with behavioral care when folks have challenges, even for those likely to leave the community or act out, and they provide incontinence care as well as diabetes support-though they'll monitor insulin but won't inject it. Many activities take place, like stretching, yoga, trips out, community service, crafts, gardening, and musical groups, and there are regular game nights, story times, worship, and intergenerational programs; there's always a full-time activity director planning things to help people stay engaged. People can take meals in restaurant-style dining rooms or use private spaces for families, and the kitchen prepares special diets, including gluten-free, low-sugar, low-salt, and vegan options, and there are guest meals too. Amenities include weekly housekeeping, laundry for linens, in-house beautician and barber services, a gym, cable TV, internet, free high-speed WiFi, and call pendants, and there's parking and transportation with some free rides, though certain outings may cost extra. The facility offers light nursing care, wound care, reminders, and home care with aides for those living at home, plus room service and a convenience store on-site, along with supportive cultural and religious programs led by visiting pastors and worship leaders. Rehabilitation services bring podiatrists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists on-site, and the staff includes caring people who communicate quickly about any health concerns. Residents can bring some pets, join cooking clubs, relax in rooms with individual heat and air controls, and receive regular health checks and medication monitoring. Jennings Terrace accepts Medicare, Private Pay, and Public Aid, and it stands as a nonprofit community with a long history of providing comfort, dignity, and choices for seniors who want stable, ongoing care in a familiar place.
