    Inconsistent culturally sensitive but unsafe

I appreciate the personalized Hispanic-friendly meals, Spanish-speaking, hardworking daytime staff, daily cleaning, physical therapy, activities and outdoor trips - my loved one was treated respectfully during the day. But management appears to be cutting corners: elevator out of service for months, an outdated facility, bedbugs, clothes misplaced, insufficient supplies (diapers), and poor overnight care. Communication is awful (phones/administrator don't answer), translators are unreliable, there were medication delays/omissions and even dangerous blood-thinner issues and delayed mortuary response. Overall it's inconsistent - good daytime, culturally sensitive care but unsafe and neglectful at times; I wouldn't trust it without very close oversight.

About Center Home for Hispanic Elderly

Center Home for Hispanic Elderly is a place that's built to feel familiar and comfortable for Hispanic elders, with a staff that speaks Spanish and understands the culture, and they do their best to make sure residents feel at home with food, activities, and services that fit their background. The facility has private and semi-private rooms in different floor plans, so folks can pick what feels best, and each room comes with its own heating and air conditioning controls, along with a private phone, voicemail, cable TV, and a mailbox. There's someone on hand all day and night in Hartwell House, which is the assisted living side, to help with things like bathing, grooming, meal preparation, and getting to appointments, and the place offers support with medication reminders, daily health checks, rehab therapies like physical and occupational therapy, and plenty of medical specialists in fields like medicine, psychiatry, memory care, podiatry, dentistry, and more all under one roof, plus wound care, pain management, cardiac care, and hospice care are available for those who need it. Residents get weekly housekeeping and linen services, and there's help with laundry, grocery shopping, light cleaning, and even feeding if needed, while the kitchen serves menus designed for Hispanic tastes and the program calendar is filled with cultural and social activities so folks can celebrate and connect in a way that feels familiar. There's a real effort to reduce trips back to the hospital, and the rehab team works to help everyone get as independent as possible, whether that's getting around after an injury or navigating dementia or Alzheimer's, which the staff also have training in handling. There's also a day program at the Adult Wellness Center, which has fun and therapeutic activities to keep minds and bodies active, along with worship services, pastoral care, and companionship that helps keep spirits up, plus the staff can read with residents or just spend a little time talking. Home Care Services offers support for older adults who want to stay in their homes, helping with daily tasks, bathing, meal prep, cleaning, and making sure folks take their medicines on time, and these services are tailored for Latino older adults, with bilingual caregivers providing both companionship and physical help, and they can work with families at the hospital to answer any questions, and set up home care quickly, as they try to process admissions fast and respond quickly to requests. The place serves both short-term and long-term residents, offers respite stays, and takes a mix of funding, including Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and private pay, with staff trained to be reliable, compassionate, and always under supervision, wanting people to live as independently as possible with all the support they need, and there's always an option to schedule a tour if families want to see what life is like at Center Home for Hispanic Elderly.
