    Caring staff, clean facility, recommended

I chose this community for my mom and overall I'm pleased - CNAs and staff are caring, attentive, and go above and beyond, the facility is spotless, meals are good with generous portions, and activities (art room, bingo, volunteers with dogs, nail/hair services) keep residents engaged. Admissions/admin were helpful, transitions (therapy/hospice) were smooth, and I felt confident in their care. Downsides: an unexpected price increase put strain on us and I did notice occasional issues (a strong odor/no warm reception reported) - it may not be the perfect fit for every family, but I would still recommend it.

    About Covenant Home of Chicago

Covenant Home of Chicago sits in the Andersonville neighborhood near River Park, tennis courts, and walking trails, and the community's close to the Swedish Covenant Health campus, which means residents can get more health care if they need it, and the history of this place goes back over a century, making it a faith-based community that offers a caring environment and treats residents as more than just a number, and you'll find friendly staff and a mix of senior living options, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care in a secure area that helps prevent wandering, Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation, and the White Crane Adult Day Program. Medicaid acts as a safety net once personal assets run out, so affordability and health care access are priorities, and the facility welcomes both cats and dogs, plus it offers housing choices in a mid-rise building with bright studio and one-bedroom apartments, all with full baths and kitchenettes, and there's easy wheelchair access everywhere. There are inviting common areas, a café, an art studio, a physical therapy gym, a theater room, and a covenant learning resource library, with features like showers with full tubs, accessible facilities, private dining rooms, and restaurant-style meals, and guest meals are welcome too. Residents enjoy Tai Chi, chair yoga, art and cooking classes, educational lectures, pet-friendly activities, outings, intergenerational events, and devotional programs both onsite and offsite, all organized by an activity director, and there's also a concierge on hand, plus 24-hour staff, including nurses, LPNs, visiting therapists, a medical director, and a beautician, so help with bathing, dressing, transferring (whether with a single person or using lifts), medication and insulin, reminders, monitoring, and mobility is all part of the supportive services. Memory Care offers a secure building, targeted technology to keep memory residents safe, and therapies designed for Alzheimer's or other dementias, while priority access to skilled nursing or higher-level care at nearby sister communities means folks can age in place and stay even as needs change, and transportation covers trips, errands, and outings, both complimentary and paid. The community's large enough to give space for social, spiritual, and intellectual activities, yet small enough to make friendships, and when higher care is needed, hospice and respite care are available, all in a peaceful setting aimed at helping seniors live each day to the fullest near Chicago.
