Wrightwood Senior Developments sits in the Ashburn neighborhood of Chicago as an apartment community for seniors who want to live more independently, and while there aren't a lot of fancy details to mention, those who move here find a quiet setting with 85 apartment units, including studios, one-bedrooms, and some with dens, plus they have some accessible units, and there are a handful of two-bedroom units available too, so you can usually find something that fits your needs if you get through the waitlist that covers several other senior properties nearby. The building itself went up in 2010 and includes things like elevators for getting around, resident parking, plus a shuttle and transportation options, and while residents are responsible for their own gas, electric, and water bills, this place offers Project Based Voucher rental assistance for 17 units, so that can help with monthly costs for those who qualify, and the community focuses on serving people either 55 or 62 and older, with protections in place for both LGBTQ and voucher holders under federal law. Inside, you'll mostly find basic, senior-friendly apartments without a lot of frills, but there are common spaces, on-site socials, security, building maintenance, and a full-time concierge for support, and there's also a fitness center and spa open all day, which folks seem to enjoy, and with nearby transit lines and a walk score of 48, it makes it easier to get around the city if you need errands or want to visit friends. For those that need it, they offer independent living and some optional support services, helping with daily activities and medication if that becomes part of life, and if a resident's needs change, they adapt the help so people don't feel forced to move away from their home. Wrightwood Senior Developments also provides skilled nursing and memory care when it's required, with round-the-clock staff, specialized memory activities, and safe areas set up for those facing Alzheimer's or other types of dementia. There's a sense of community because staff encourage neighbors to get to know one another and keep busy with social activities, plus there are more practical things like security checks and maintenance covered by staff so residents don't have to worry about those chores. With a community review score around 7.5, it's not perfect but residents seem generally satisfied, and because there's a waitlist and an application fee, it's best to plan ahead if you're thinking of making this place home. Wrightwood offers affordable, no-frills living for healthier seniors who want some help but don't want to give up independence, and most services focus on safety, friendship, and keeping folks active and connected as long as possible.

New building with helpful staff
I live here and it's an excellent, brand-new building with a very helpful, loving front office and staff. The units feel spacious overall though some rooms are small, and residents mostly prepare their own meals. Activities are steady - bingo once or twice a month, movies, arts & crafts, and outings to museums and restaurants.
