    Great therapy but poor nursing

I love the facility-therapy is fantastic (5-star), social services are helpful, and nurses/CNAs are experienced and compassionate. Since Bobby (and Kimberly) took over, leadership improved and staff are more available. That said, skilled nursing care is poor: call lights are slow, meals need assistance, and aides often go to the dining room leaving non-dining residents without help. Overall great therapy and caring staff, but beware of the skilled-care unit.

    About Generations at Riverview

Generations at Riverview, which has also been known as Accolade Healthcare of East Peoria, sits at 500 Centennial Drive in East Peoria and serves as a place where seniors have found a mix of independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services all in one community. The place is on the larger side but has a medium, 42-bed setup, and you'll find dedicated spaces like activity rooms, dining areas, and a garden for residents to gather, plus a small library, pathways, and even a bowling alley for folks who still like to get up and move around a bit. It's got rooms with spacious bedrooms, plush carpeting, full kitchens with big appliances, cable TV, WiFi, phone service, housekeeping, laundry, and even a salon, and every apartment home's set up with an emergency call system for safety and peace of mind. Some residents need help with things like bathing, dressing, or taking their medicine, and that help comes from a staff that's on hand all hours, with healthcare staffing, a 24-hour call system, and special trained people for tracheostomy care too. The place offers meals in a restaurant-style dining room, has a coffee bar and café, and can work with special diets like for diabetes, plus residents can get one or two meals a day and have snack options on top of that. Folks moving in can get help with the big switch, and once settled, people have choices like attending fitness classes, learning sessions, lectures, or just joining in activities like arts and crafts, movie nights, music, games, organized trips, spiritual gatherings, and social events-sometimes even cooking classes or multigenerational hangouts. The community takes safety seriously with security systems and locked memory care spaces, so those with Alzheimer's or dementia can take part in memory care programs, memory-enhancing activities, and get specialized attention. Month-to-month leasing makes things a bit more flexible, and residents can enjoy weekly cleaning, parking, concierge services, and local trips. Nurses are on site to help with skilled nursing or short-term rehab, like after surgery or injury, and there's a Transitional Care Unit to help people get strong and go back home when they're ready. Ratings have put the nursing home part at 2 stars according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, with an average score around 8.4 out of 10 from families and residents. The property's been run by Accolade Healthcare, who took over in 2021, but financial troubles mean the owners, Paradox East Peoria LLC, have had to decide to close Generations at Riverview, and it's set to shut its doors on March 3, 2025, with staff and agencies already looking for new homes for everyone living there now. While the West Peoria and Peoria locations aren't affected, this community has played a recognized role in East Peoria senior care, offering nursing care, memory care, independent living, and more before its time comes to an end.
