Arcadia Care at Havana is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in the Petersen Health Care community, with 98 certified beds but usually about 35 residents, so there are often open beds available. The building is privately owned and has both long-term and short-term care, along with skilled rehab services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and there's support for residents with Alzheimer's and those needing wound care or IV therapy. The nursing staff gives help with bathing, dressing, transferring, and medicine management, so people get the daily support they need, although nursing coverage is often between 12 and 16 hours each day and nurse turnover is pretty high at around 54%. There are infection control issues and several deficiencies in recent inspections, like not always having a registered nurse on duty for eight hours a day or enough people for food and nutrition, which makes it important for families to keep an eye on care quality. People living here get three meals a day with options for special diets, and there's restaurant-style dining and an all-day dining choice, and each private room comes with its own bathroom, air conditioning, cable TV, internet, and kitchenette or telephone, so folks have some comforts and a bit of privacy. There are movie nights, fitness programs, a library, a garden with outdoor walking paths, and activities like bingo, church services, and monthly resident meetings, all put together by the activities and social services team, which tries to keep everyone busy and engaged. They provide laundry and housekeeping, have a 24-hour call system for help, support transportation including to dialysis, and help with moves if needed. Medicaid and Medicare are both accepted, and they do have mental health support and counseling services. Arcadia Care at Havana is recognized for its caring staff and a focus on community living, though inspection reports show room for improvement in staffing and infection control, and being a Special Focus Facility Candidate means the facility has a history of serious quality issues but isn't under formal government watch. There's a wellness room, outdoor spaces, movie theater, and art room to help make everyday life more pleasant. The staff is noted for being compassionate, so while there are some challenges, residents can often find comfort and care here.

Understaffed facility with unsanitary neglect
I had a mixed, ultimately negative experience. Some nurses and staff were attentive, compassionate, and communicative with real-time updates, but the facility is severely understaffed and poorly managed - I witnessed neglect, unsanitary, cold/stinking rooms, risk of bedsores, health decline from mistreatment, reports of theft and a CNA's threatening behavior that management ignored; I was also told about clerical ties reportedly benefiting Mark Petersen (not affiliated with Petersen Healthcare). I removed my loved one and would avoid placing others here.
