    Welcoming staff, management unsafe, dishonest

    I lived here but no longer do - I moved back to Tennessee. The office staff and maintenance were welcoming and helpful, and I liked the neighbors and community. However, management was pathetic: staff were dishonest, bullied residents, and I experienced bedbugs. I saw someone posing as a nurse with a pass key, had jewelry and money coerced/taken, and staff refused receipts; the same-day five-star reviews and meal claims felt suspicious and false. I enjoyed parts of my stay but left over safety and dishonesty.

The place has 115 private one-bedroom apartments, each one with a full kitchen and big closets, and you get on-site laundry facilities and parking too. Every floor's got a lobby or a common room with seating, and there's a community room with a full kitchen where people gather for parties, games, and different social events, plus an outdoor patio on the ground floor with swings, a table and chairs, and a grill so people can sit outside if the weather's nice, and if you like a view there are outside decks up on the third and sixth floors with city views.

    Jefferson House covers active adult, independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and respite care, which means the place can help with daily tasks, offer meals, medication management, and personal care, but they also have specialized programs for people needing wound care or help with memory loss, and there's always two maintenance workers on-call around the clock plus a manager right there on-site. Seniors aged 55 and over get priority, but some apartments are set aside for folks who are at least 62 or who are disabled or handicapped, and the building has both HUD-Assisted Housing and Low Income Housing Tax Credit programs so there are options for people at different income levels and some rent-subsidized units for those who need it most.

    You'll find a closed-circuit TV system, a buzzer entry system for added security, and emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms, and there are devotional services offered offsite, so people of different faith backgrounds can find something for themselves. The whole building's pet friendly if you have a cat or dog, and maintenance is available 24 hours a day, so when something goes wrong it gets fixed quickly. The management team's professional and the place is privately owned by Urban Innovations, which keeps everything running smoothly. Seasonal decorations, active social programs, and onsite events keep up a lively but comfortable atmosphere, and each apartment is made for easy living with full kitchens and appliances, so it's set up for as much independence as each person wants with help available if and when it's needed.
