    Beautiful facility, but poor care

The facility is beautiful - my own apartment, great food, and many caring, friendly staff and management. Unfortunately I experienced neglect and poor care, so I would not place my parent there.

About The Anchor of The Voyage Senior Living

The Anchor of The Voyage Senior Living is a senior living community that serves adults 60 or 65 and older, depending on the care neighborhood, and it's got a maximum capacity of 60 residents so everyone gets a sense of community, and the place covers just about every care option you can think of, with assisted living, independent living, memory care, nursing home care, skilled nursing, home care, hospice, respite care, and even adult day care, so whatever level of help you need they've likely got it covered. You'll find several options here, like Century Assisted Living I and II, Fifth Season Residential in Benton and Radcliffe, Hawthorne Inn Of Parkway, Herrin Affordable, River to River Community of Marion, Reflections Memory Care in Carterville, Herrin Market, Voyage Senior Living Marion North, Villas of Holly Brook Herrin, Angel Acres, The Landings Of Carbondale, and Sunshine Gardens, which each offer different combinations of assisted living, respite care, memory care, nursing home, and rehabilitation.

The community has three neighborhoods, and there are private one-bedroom floor plans with between 279 and 352 square feet-these have big sleeping rooms, accessible closets good for two people, spacious bathrooms with non-skid floors, and walk-in showers, so there's an effort to make it safe and comfortable, and they do a good job thinking about those little details. For meals, they prepare food restaurant-style and manage special diets, and there's help if you need it with daily things like bathing, dressing, medication, and getting around, and they have 24/7 care and a 24-hour call system for peace of mind. The Anchor also has outdoor gardens, a small library, common rooms, and house amenities like housekeeping and laundry, so you can focus on living your life instead of chores.

Reflections Memory Care in Carterville stands out for its state-of-the-art dementia and Alzheimer's support, and the staff are trained carefully, so residents with memory needs can find secure areas, memory-enhancing activities, and special programs-always with the S.E.R.V.E. philosophy that stands for safety, empathy, respect, values, and encouragement. The memory care side says "there is life with dementia," so folks with memory loss are supported to be active, safe, and respected, and family members can feel confident the environment was designed for security. There's help for short-term stays, too, with respite care for those who need breaks or extra support, and move-in help is available to make the transition smoother.

Activities, both planned by the community and by residents, are a regular thing to keep folks engaged, and the whole place wants you to feel accepted like family. Accessibility, safety, and dignity are clear priorities, especially in areas for dementia support, and they aim to help every resident live as well as possible. The Anchor of The Voyage Senior Living focuses on affordable, secure, and comfortable living for older adults, offers many ways to get care, and loves to remind folks that every resident matters.
