    Beautiful facility, poor care management

I appreciated the spotless, boutique-hotel feel, friendly welcoming staff, great food and activities, and how helpful the sales/admin team was with visits. That said, it's very expensive, rooms (studios) felt small, and I felt the facility misrepresented 24-hour/skilled nursing-my loved one had falls and needed more qualified care and hospice attention than was provided. Management sometimes seemed unprofessional and condescending, with unfulfilled promises and even alleged false accusations/thefts that made me wary. Beautiful place with many caring employees, but check care level, budget, and leadership closely before deciding.

About The Sheridan at Park Ridge

The Sheridan at Park Ridge sits close to the Pickwick Theatre, the Village Green Shopping Center, and the Park Ridge Country Club, and it's easy to get to Chicago with its spot near the I-294 corridor, which is handy for families and visitors alike. The community has 64 assisted living apartments and 36 memory care apartments, all available in different floor plans, and residents can bring their pets, which is a comfort to many. The care at The Sheridan at Park Ridge includes help with tasks like bathing, dressing, bathroom needs, medication, special diets, and more, with a professional care team available around the clock, providing help as needed with kindness and respect. Residents work with staff and doctors to set up individualized service plans, and there's regular communication about care.

There's a special focus on both independence and support, especially for folks with memory challenges, since the memory care unit uses a locked-door system for safety, and the staff there have special training for dementia care. Residents have access to a Wellness Center for health activities, daily check-ins, and therapy services like occupational, physical, and speech therapy, and all sorts of programs meant to keep both mind and body active. The community encourages people to join in creative activities, social gatherings, art programs, music, book clubs, puzzles, games, and outings. The building itself has features like wide windows for natural light, enclosed courtyards, a sun porch, an art studio with a tall clerestory window, a club room that overlooks the nearby golf course, beautifully landscaped grounds, an outdoor dining patio, a Tranquility Garden, and walking paths for taking in the fresh air.

When it comes to meals, residents eat chef-prepared food in a restaurant-style dining room, and there's also a Bistro & Bar with a full bar, snacks, and a hydration station. Amenities include a swimming pool, exercise studio, fitness center, library, gameroom, art and crafts room, salon and spa, barbershop, beauty shop, assisted bathing spa, piano lounge, private patios, fire features like a fire pit, and scheduled transportation for shopping and appointments. Regular housekeeping, on-site maintenance, laundry help, grocery delivery, and concierge services are included, along with all utilities. For folks who want to get outside, the community provides gardening spaces and paths to walk, plus it's pet friendly so people don't have to leave their animals behind.

The Sheridan offers both assisted living for those who need help but want to keep doing as much as they can on their own, and memory care for people who need extra support because of memory issues, as well as short-term stays, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospice, and respite care. The team helps with planning for all sorts of needs, and the atmosphere feels clean, active, and pleasant, with plenty of community events and chances for building friendships or just having some quiet time in a favorite spot inside or outside. For those thinking about a senior living community where both independence and strong support are part of daily life, The Sheridan at Park Ridge covers a wide range of services and amenities, with a reputation for caring staff and a tidy, welcoming environment.
