Sunset Home has a supportive environment and provides complete medical care and supervision for seniors who need it. Residents can join in social, educational, and fun activities that help them stay active and enjoy life. The staff stays on site at all hours to help with daily needs, and the community offers transportation so people can get to appointments or events outside the campus easily. Those living at Sunset Home can bring their own favorite furniture and decorate their suites how they like, which makes the space feel more like home. The dining area uses a restaurant-style setup, giving everyone choices at mealtime. There's an ice cream shop on site where residents can meet friends or family for a treat. People living here can choose between independent living villas, apartments at Sunset Apartments, or more supportive options like Sunset Assisted Living and Sunset Home/Skilled Nursing. The facility provides all levels of care as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, including assisted living, skilled nursing services, therapy, and short-term rehabilitation. Residents with higher medical needs can get specialized nursing care and rehabilitation support, while those who prefer more independence get the balance of support and freedom they need. Sunset Home also offers restorative nursing care, wellness programs, therapy services, and full-service therapy departments. Pastoral care is available for those wanting spiritual support, and there's a beauty shop and computer lab the residents can use. The housing options include apartments and villas, with each area having its own specific name, such as Sunset Independent Living Villas for those who are independent, Sunset Assisted Living for seniors needing some help, and Sunset Home/Skilled Nursing for those who need more medical support. Hospice and palliative care are available for those who need comfort at the end of life, and there are respite services if caregivers need a break. People can look at a virtual tour and see the photo gallery to get a feeling for what the place looks like before visiting in person. The community keeps everyone informed with an activity calendar, newsletter, and special events so there's always something going on for those who want to take part.
Poorly Managed Care with Exceptions
I had a mixed but mostly disappointing experience. Communication and management were poor-phones often unanswered, hang-ups, and unresponsive leadership-and staffing seemed profit-driven with constant turnover. Care was uneven: a few staff (Rachel at the front desk, Emre and some rehab nurses) were excellent and the apartments, dining area and common spaces are bright and clean, but many aides were unhelpful or hostile, immobile residents were neglected, recliners soiled, incident reports and family notifications were missing, and safety measures (rails/supervision) were lacking. I'd only recommend this place with major caveats.
