Azalea Hills Assisted Living sits in a home-like setting where up to six residents can get personalized care and plenty of help with daily needs, like bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication. The facility provides many features that keep things comfortable and social, such as spacious rooms with private bathrooms, clean common areas, and community spaces like a small library, wellness center, fitness room, game room, and areas outside for walking, gardening, or just relaxing. Residents enjoy three homemade meals each day, and meals can be changed for diabetes or high blood pressure. There are planned activities like movie nights, board games, music and pet therapy, exercise programs, and various community and spiritual events that help residents stay active and connected, plus field trips and activities run by residents themselves. The staff includes nurses and caregivers who handle everything from insulin to two-person transfers, and they can provide incontinence and diabetic care, all with support around the clock and a responsive call system. There are health services, including home health care that's Medicare-certified, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and specialized memory care. Azalea Hills offers help with errands, rides to medical sessions, and scheduling for religious services, as well as travel coordination for appointments. For grooming, a traveling hairdresser visits, and there's a salon on-site, plus a sauna and Jacuzzi for relaxation. Housekeeping and linen services keep things tidy, while management, often praised by families and staff, helps residents move in and get settled. Azalea Hills takes safety seriously, with supervision day and night, emergency response features, and a focus on pandemic safety. The setting has a warm, friendly, and caring environment where some residents have chosen to stay for over seven years, and staff are known for going above and beyond in their support. Residents can use a variety of services from independent living and adult day care to hospice and skilled nursing, with acceptance of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, and the variety of amenities, nutritious comfort meals, and access to care all come together to support health, happiness, and daily life.

Mostly positive but inconsistent care
I live here and overall it's a mixed but mostly positive experience. The staff are often kind, caring and attentive, activities (bingo, live music, games) are engaging, meals are usually hot with generous portions, and the facility, dining room, laundry and library are well kept. That said, care and management are inconsistent - some CNAs are great while others are intimidating, medications and staffing have been issues, outings/transport can be limited, and furniture/carpeting in places needs updating; special-diet options also seem lacking. I'd recommend visiting multiple times, asking about current staffing and menu accommodations before deciding.
