    Caring staff excellent rehab recommended

I placed my mom here and overall I'm very grateful - the staff are kind, compassionate and professional (nurses/CNAs and therapists), they treat residents like family, provide attentive, team-based care, excellent rehab that improved her health, and the facility is clean, safe and engaging with good activities and meals. Communication is strong, staff go above and beyond, and my mom felt loved and settled. Downsides: the building is dated and a bit dark, there's no separate memory-care unit, and we experienced one unacceptable long wait at the door that showed a systems gap. Despite that, I highly recommend this caring, capable team as a permanent home.

    About Lowell Healthcare

Lowell Healthcare is a senior living community at 710 Michigan Ave in Lowell, Indiana, that offers both assisted living and skilled nursing care, and it's open all day, every day, with staff on hand around the clock to help seniors with different needs, including dementia care, though there isn't a separate memory care section. The team there includes trained aides, nurses, and an interdisciplinary group with social workers and chaplains, and they put a lot of heart into looking after each person like family, making sure everyone's care fits their own needs and choices, especially when health gets tough or there's an illness that needs careful watching, and there's hospice and respite care for those who need comfort or just a break for their caregivers. Seniors live in spacious, wheelchair-accessible rooms with large bathrooms, and many units offer things like air conditioning, washers and dryers, and sometimes views of the water, plus pet-friendly options and places to barbecue or swim in the pool.

The community has a pretty full activity program to keep people involved and active, and there's always someone ready to help with daily living tasks, meals planned by chefs and nutritionists, cleaning, and getting out to the many social areas, and residents can join aerobic or strength-building classes for overall wellness. Lowell Healthcare is part of American Senior Communities, and there's a Road to Recovery program with therapies and planning often started within the first three days if someone's just arriving from the hospital or needs rehabilitation after a setback like a stroke or surgery; therapy teams offer physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and there are services for wound care, mobility training, and fall prevention.

People can choose from apartments, townhomes, condos, and single-family homes, some with nice extras like patios, hot tubs, and even doormen, and there are shared neighborhood residences for those who want a live-in caregiver, plus basic senior apartments for folks who just want a simple, no-fuss place to live. There's independent living for healthier, active seniors too. The surroundings might be older, but they're well kept, clean, and have a calm, friendly feel. There's easy access to a hospital, medical offices, and a pharmacy, making it simple to handle health needs, and the facility welcomes a wide mix of people with protections to prevent discrimination, including for LGBTQ rights and different sources of income; they accept private pay and Medicaid if someone qualifies. Many describe Lowell Healthcare as a cheerful, secure, and home-like place, and with virtual or live guided tours available, families can get a closer look. The focus always stays on providing compassionate, person-centered care that helps people feel like they belong.
