Dignity Care Home in Salina, Kansas, has served seniors since 1993 and is still run by Joan Hoffman and her son Paul Myers, who's the Executive Director and an RN, and there's Hailey Pittman, LPN, as the Resident Care Coordinator, and the staff there's warm and friendly, making sure to help residents with whatever they need, whether it's daily living assistance, specialized nursing care, or rehabilitation after a hospital stay, and they take pride in offering a home-like setting with private suites equipped with spa-sized showers, suggested furnishings, and safety features, plus quiet community living spaces where people can socialize, play games, or join in on arts and crafts. There are scheduled doctor home visits, a noise-free nurse call system for extra safety, and wanderer protection for those who need it, and folks can use the salon and barbershop or head outside to the outdoor living areas to enjoy some fresh air, and the staff work hard to set up regular events, clubs, and group dining where everyone can get to know each other. Meals come with options for therapeutic diets, and there's plenty of amenities like kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers, a fitness center, guest parking, and Wi-Fi, with plenty of floor plans to suit different needs, and everything kept tidy with housekeeping and full maintenance services. The home accepts long-term care insurance, offers personal care services including assistance with walking or wheelchairs, and has memory care, assisted living, independent living, and traditional long-term care all in one community, so people can really have support tailored to their needs. The programs focus on keeping everyone active mentally and physically, with education, arts, wellness, social events, and post-hospitalization services, and the staff keeps a strong track record for quality, having passed state surveys with zero deficiencies. With 30 residential health care beds, Dignity Care Home aims to help seniors stay comfortable, supported, and active in a familiar, community-focused environment, with care that changes to fit each resident as they need it, and the facility's open for tours so people can come in, see the spaces, meet staff, and get a sense of the community.
Neglect, poor management, billed family
I placed my loved one here and, despite a few caring employees, experienced repeated neglect - residents left in soiled briefs for hours, ignored skin tears, dirty clothes/poor grooming, no RN on site, poor staffing and an image-focused, unresponsive administration that even billed for hair trims and disputed refunds after a death. A handful of staff (notably Skylar) were gentle and attentive, but overall the neglect and management failures outweigh the positives, so I cannot recommend this facility.
