    Compassionate caregivers, inconsistent food, management

I'm grateful for the compassionate, attentive staff - my aunt got excellent hands-on care, great PT/OT, engaging activities, and clean, comfortable rooms. My biggest concerns were inconsistent meals (cold or undercooked at times), maintenance issues (toilet/TV/furniture), and an unresponsive, at times hostile, administration/HR. Overall I trust the frontline caregivers and would recommend cautiously, but be aware of management and food/maintenance problems.

About Spring Hill Care And Rehabilitation Center

Spring Hill Care And Rehabilitation Center sits at 251 E Wilson St in Spring Hill, Kansas, serving as the town's only nursing home and offering a variety of care types like inpatient rehab, long-term care, respite care, palliative care, and wound care, so residents get the help they need in one place, and they do a good job with both skilled nursing and rehabilitation for all ages, whether someone's recovering from a stroke, needs IV antibiotics, or requires memory care for Alzheimer's disease, and the staff here assist with bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication while also handling wound management, oxygen therapy, respiratory issues, and heart recovery, plus those who need rehabilitation can use occupational, physical, or speech therapy, so there's something for just about any medical or care need that comes up, and the nurses, LPNs, CNAs, and therapy staff keep watch over residents around the clock with a call system and emergency alerts.

The place holds at least 45 certified beds and usually has a handful open, with both private post-hospitalization suites and semi-private options if privacy is preferred, and the rooms come furnished, have telephones, and are set up for comfort, and there's Wi-Fi and high-speed internet, which makes it easy for families to stay in touch. The staff speak English, and there's a focus on making everyone feel at home, with a welcoming environment and a home-like atmosphere-Wheelchair-accessible vans handle medical transportation, driving residents to dialysis or doctor's appointments without much trouble, and parking is plentiful for family visitors, which helps on busy days.

Dining takes place in a restaurant-style dining room where meals can be tailored for allergies or diabetes, and all-day dining gives plenty of flexibility, so nobody gets left hungry, and there's also a hair salon and barber for grooming, since staying clean and put together really matters here, and laundry and housekeeping happen regularly, including dry cleaning. Residents can enjoy walking paths, a garden, and arts room, and pets are allowed with certain policies, so the center's not too strict on bringing some of home with you.

Social life gets a boost from movie nights, resident-run activities, and community-sponsored programs, and the place has resident and family councils to make sure everyone can be heard for suggestions, plus the staff put a lot into support groups and events that actually mean something, with extra focus on those with dementia or Alzheimer's to keep them safe and reduce wandering. State-of-the-art equipment helps manage more complex needs like CPAP, BiPAP, wound vacs, NG and PEG tubes, and various therapies, so families know there's capable hands and tools at their disposal.

Spring Hill Care And Rehabilitation Center accepts Medicare and Medicaid, making it an option for most budgets, and they don't operate as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, but they do keep up high inspection ratings with an A+ grade recently and no major complaints on record, which says quite a bit about consistent oversight and safe practices, and their awards from the American Health Care Association and QAPI accreditation add some trust without making big promises they can't keep.

The connection to Mission Health and an emphasis on CARES values show they try hard to keep standards high, and long-tenured staff are dedicated, dependable, and take pride in delivering above-average medical supervision and daily care. The facility also works to keep ties with the larger Spring Hill and Gardner area by joining the local Chamber of Commerce and giving residents a sense of purpose through Community Champions and Builders programs. Spring Hill Care And Rehabilitation Center has a 4.6 rating based on dozens of reviews, offers good care, and keeps the focus on safety, comfort, and genuine support for each resident.
